Question 04 c230 sedan a good deal???

Email from a MB Dealer:

2004 C230WZ Sport Sedan
Brilliant Silver Exterior/Charcaol Interior
Automatic Transmission, Sunroof Package, Lighting Package, CD Changer, and Upgraded Sound System. The only thing we would need to add is the rear spoiler.
The breakdown of your price will go as follows:
MSRP $35,150.00 (including spoiler)
Invoice: $33,066.00 (including spoiler)
Your Price: $33,066.00 (including spoiler)

That is the price i recieved for the c230 i wish. However i do not really care if its a 03 or an 04 as the facelift will affect both cars. And right now i can most likely get the 03 for a lot cheaper. I sort of wanted the navigation system but i guess i can live without that.

As for that price is that a good price? I was actually hoping to get around 2k more off that price. Or at least 33k including all taxes (CA tax) licences and etc. That being a little too greedy? However with the face lift on the way it isn't asking for that much is it? or at least if im going to pay that much i would like it to be 34-35k with a navigation system. Any comments are welcomed.

Std markup on C-class MBs is 7% of MSRP not including freight. Then you have 3% holdback plus some bonus holdbacks. IMHO asking for another ~6% of that figure for an 04 is asking a little bit too much. Even for CA.

At the current time there are no incentives to the dealers on MB's except for the ML. The coupes have a six month inventory, while the sedans are in short supply. Invoice on a 2004 sports sedan sound very good to me.

Well i do live in LA, which gives me many more options and a much better deal on the car, aside from the HUGE sales tax. If 2k is too much i think 1k is not bad then. Imaging adding 3k in license tax and etc. So total will still be 35k for those options. And personally i don't care if its 03 or 04. They're all the same as the difference will come in the middle of the year with the face lifts.

Also when configured on my own in mbusa.com my total came out to 34,460$ with the exact same options as the dealer quoted. does the 04 c230 have a 500$ difference in mrsp price? Knowing this i know the true invoice should be a little lower, and i would like to have at least 1 more k the deal i have gotten. 32k + taxes, licence, fees.

Also is the navigation worth it? I am not sure if i truly want the navigation or not.

Your first post listed a spoiler. You will have to add paint, labor and install to that. In addition the site still list the 03 prices. Remember that the taxes, license, etc. is required of all. I don't think you can ask the dealer to cover any part of those. If you want a better price you'll most likely have to find an 03. And that one may or may not be equipped the way you want it. Even then it may not assure you of a better price since the dealer will have to spent money getting it.

Not a flame, just $0.02

The price the dealer gave me is including the spoiler, whether or not that has the isntalltion cost im betting it'll be that price period. I guess then installation will be free. As for the taxes and license, i willing to pay that after we figure out the mrsp. Im leaning towards 32k for everything then adding the rest. Which is below invoice and i a really good price.

As for the 03 models that is what i first asked for. He told me he did not have any with the options that i wished for hence gave me an 04 model option. I don't mine if its an 03, hell i will like it more because i can get it for less. that dealer i think has 22 other c230s in the lot anyways and will need to get rid of them. I guess i'll wait for his reply first then see how it works.

Dealers do not install these items for free. As a matter of fact, they often charge several times the actual time, which is always much less than what the book calls for. This is a major profit center or dealers. If you are buying the car at invoice, the installation of the wing will exceed their profit on the sale.

Actually there are (or at least where last week as some incentives expired 7/31) great incentives on the c240. Even though it's about $2k more expensive than the C230K sedan, the C240 ended up being cheaper than the C230K. Price it out on CarsDirect.com
