hey sunman, do you think it would be a good idea then to buy the armrest before i have the UHI installed?

CitronC230K_03 09-14-2004 01:06 PM

this is the part number i was told for a charcoal colored 2004 armrest.

203-680-08-82-9D12

Saprissa 09-14-2004 01:28 PM

Citron, :y
great !! what price are they quoting you ?
I wonder if I can get wholesale price down here at MBSD or Hoehn ?

CitronC230K_03 09-14-2004 01:32 PM

this quote is from Tom Hansen, he was the parts manager from Caliber Motors. He was at the last MB meet Aug. 20th. From an email he sent me. "The center armrest is 203-680-08-82-9D12, $167.28."

Tom is Wholesale parts manager. let me know what price you are quoted. i want to buy this armrest before my UHI gets installed.

That is pretty close to what Dr. Sunman said. I will call today to get some quotes from MBSD and Hoehn. * What's the price tag on the UHI install including required parts ? I guess I should of asked Steve about that too. Maybe if I pay close attention, I can just get the parts, and try to destroy, uh I mean install it myself ! I don't have a phone yet, so not sure what cradle to get, or are they all universal ? That's why I asked about what phones can be used with this system, that will work with the MB display on the car.

CitronC230K_03 09-14-2004 02:07 PM

well ive paid $750 to Steve already for a deposit towards the UHI. i was considered a prepay as well so i believe im getting a break in the cost. im still waiting to see what the final cost will turn out to be. plus about $170 for the armrest, plus $400 for the new phone which ive already paid for. UHI is getting to be kinda costly at this point. :D

Saprissa 09-14-2004 02:21 PM

yeah, I hear ya on the cost of this stuff.... but in the end, it's all worth it ! :y

CitronC230K_03 09-14-2004 02:26 PM

oh yeah it is. i dont know what im going to do with all the extra money ill have every month once im done modding my car.

right now ive been spending about $500 - $800 a month on mods. and this will continue for sure until next year until my scheduled mods are completed.

Saprissa 09-14-2004 02:29 PM

ditto !!

i might just have to buy another car, to keep my modding addiction alive...

the HORROR ! the HORROR !

CitronC230K_03 09-14-2004 02:36 PM

yeah i hear that. honestly though, after im finished with my mods ill probably double up the payments and pay it off faster.

and no the cradles are not all universal. they are prettymuch universal for each manufactuer. i.e. Nokia, Motorola, SonyEricson, Siemens, etc.

That's always a good plan. Specially, when maintenance in the way-out years starts to hurt a little... :( No reason in worrying about a car payment as well.

thanks for the info ! :y I guess I have to just pick a phone that will work, and then look for the cradle. All this MOD talk makes my brain hurt :wall: :hammer:

CitronC230K_03 09-14-2004 02:48 PM

plus when you go to pick a phone make sure it is one that will work. not all nokia, not all motorolas, etc will work there is a list right now of compatible phones.

"The following phones will have kits available:

Nokia 6100/6610/7250
Nokia 6200/6220/6230
SonyEriccson T610/T616/T630/T637
Siemens S55/C55/M55/S56/C56/M56
Siemens CX55/CX66
Motorola V620/V600/V525/V300

That's all! Please do not ask for others. Also note that if you are a Cingular or AT&T customer, recommended phones are SE T616/T637, the Siemens phones ending with "6", and the Nokia 6200 and 6230b. Many of these are currently available at subsidized prices direct from the provider, so getting a phone at a good price should not be a problem
(which was an issue with the Nokia 6310i kits).

Also note that if you choose the Motorola Vxxx kit, you are on your own... there are a lot of problems reported with this kit/phone combo, so we will not provide ANY support for it. It is just available for those who just HAVE to have a V600."

since i have cingular and and i had a V600, i chose to change to the 6230b because of this advice!

ok Carlos, I just bought the armrest from Tom. It should be here by Friday. I'll post pics of my install if I do the install myself. I sent an email to Steve to see if it may be easier to wait until the UHI gets installed to put in the new armrest.

Saprissa 09-14-2004 05:35 PM

dude, you are quick ! let me know what Steve says. I don't think I could control myself, if I got a part to install and was waiting on another one ! Yeah, post pics either way... awesome :y

CitronC230K_03 09-14-2004 05:38 PM

yeah, patience isnt one of my virtues. if it is easier for him to install during the UHI install ill wait. otherwise i will put it in. ill post pics eitherway, you know me, picture whore!

Saprissa 09-14-2004 05:43 PM

post away, you whore !!! :D

anyone know how to remove the old one?

yes i did use the famous search feature! :D

Guest0001 09-16-2004 04:31 PM

Nice man! post some pics of it :y

CitronC230K_03 09-16-2004 04:32 PM

will do once i figure out how to take out the old one. i think i may have to remove the panel in the center console. ill look better when i get a chance. cant really do it at work, and i have class tonight!

i have no patience! :D

nlpamg 09-16-2004 04:47 PM

tell us how it goes! I'll probably need to know b/c the dealer is going to replace my armrest b/c it's peeling/cracking, and they said it was defective. As long as it's under warranty, then it's all good.

CitronC230K_03 09-16-2004 04:49 PM

sure will. it doesnt look hard to remove, i just need to now how to access the part to remove it from the center console. ill post detailed pics of the install tomorrow night.

JohnCL 09-16-2004 04:57 PM

ok ive run into some issues i need to ask for some help on. specifically Saprissa, when you get a chance can you compare 2003 and 2004.5 armrests for me since you have both.

the 2003 bottom panel has different screw hole patterns which will require me to buy the new bottom panel as well. that is not a problem. heres a pic of the old bottom panel.
