Looking to get new head unit

Hey guys... I've been reading/searching for the past 90 minutes or so. I decided that I was going to get a new head unit-specifically, the
Pioneer Pioneer
X5500bhs.
I just wanted to confirm a couple things, since apparently that model has never been discussed with a w203.
I know I need the ASWC-1 to retain steering wheel controls.
I know I need bypass parking brake thing in case someone other than me wants to watch a movie while i'm driving

Is that it? Did I need to get a plastic frame or can the installers just reuse whats in there? I don't need to get any type of antenna adapter, right?
I currently have the plain stock sound system for a '02 C240(not BOSE... not H/K)

Thanks in advance.

You'll need the new faceplate and wire harness and antenna power adapter.

Yup that's it. Also when installing the 12v constant and acc power are switched on our harness since it harness is intended for a vw

I've got a new install kit (minus the antenna adapter and wiring harness) that I'm not using. Let me know if you'd be interested in that.

Thanks

I think I'll just get the kit due to simplicity. Thanks though.

I was going to get this installed by a shop, but they sounded like they had no idea what was going on...luckily theres another 1 that i'll check with sometime later this weekend.
But, just in case they sound just as confused as who I checked today, i'll probably have to do it myself. So... because of that, I now have a new question.

Will I HAVE to solder anything? I don't have that or a heat gun or anything like that...

Yes you'll need to solder the adapter harness to the hu harness. You can use plugs and other connectors but I like soldering to know its a good connection.

I don't think it's uncommon to use crimp on connectors but Phister is right. Soldering is better in which case, you'd probably want to use shrink tubing to insulate the joint (but tape would certainly work).

I was once worried about soldering but it is really easy. You can get an inexpensive pen soldering iron, solder and heat shrink tubing at Radio Shack or some place like that.

Yea soldering is easy to do on basic wiring. More difficult when you get to circuits
