Car shuts off randomly
 

My 2003 C230K (237k miles) has become very temperamental. It randomly shuts itself down while driving. Runs fine, great mileage while it's running except for occasional hard/rough start. Dealer couldn't diagnose...no codes.....wanted to replace fuel pump & filter but couldn't say if that was the fault. Was kind of vague about fuel pressure. Also mentioned compression was "uneven". Didn't mention CPS. Did mention an oil leak in the valve cover gasket running onto the plugs but cleaning that didn't help. Any opinions or guidance appreciated.

My recommendation would be to take it to a very good local indy, tell them all about the car, and let them do a diagnosis. It probably should run $200-250, but would be cheaper than the dealer, repairs themselves would be cheaper, and you would not be potentially repairing something that's in good working order.
