FUEL LEAK - 2002 C230K Coupe
Hello again friends,
I searched "fuel leak" but the forum did not find a match, so I am asking here in hopes that someone can once again kindly lead me to the source of the fuel leak cause.
Scenario:
-drove a few miles
-smelled gas in the cabin
-noticed fuel pouring out profusely from the bottom (driver side)
-between driver seat and the center bottom.
should I remove the bottom cover and take a closer look, or is this something I need to bring in for further mechanical inspection. would like to do it myself > not pay the big bucks!
Thanks

If it's pouring out profusely, I wouldn't sit around with my thumb up my ***, waiting on replies on an anonymous forum to tell me how to fix it. Stop wherever you are, take a look (I wouldn't use a match); if it's nothing obvious, call a professional and have it towed in. You could be messing with fire, literally.

Sounds like you may have a rusted out fuel line. I had a rusted out brake line...had to remove the entire rear subframe to fix it.
That being said, given it's gasoline, take it to a professional.

I wouldn't know about all that sit around with thumb up *** stuff, but I did stop where I was and took a good look, "the under carrier cover is on could not see **** down there" I cant agree with you on your thoughts about this forum cause I have had plenty of good advice here and it works and comes in good time...but, I called a friend who does know what's up with MB, thanks for the tips bro, and no I wont light a match.

That's Paprika, I believe, that was available only in 2002 in the US (again, I believe). It really is a gorgeous color - a member here in NJ had one for a while, until he dropped off the face of the Earth.
My assumption is that the hood has been popped. Hoping that's true!

Actually, some people really like that colour,... and some really can't stand it! I have to like it, since,.... anyways, it was the "signature" colour for the pre-facelift (2001-2004) SportCoupé. Its paintcode is 487 and really called "Aventurine Orange",... but in USA and Canada it was called "Paprika Metallic Red" since North Americans tend to have something against "Orange" cars.
For OP,... if you're talking about hose clamps for the fuel filter,... it seems whoever did the previous fuel filter change went cheap and put on inferior hose clamps that rusted through or crack resulting in the gas leak! $3 might buy you ONE of the original hose clamps. Basically do it right or take the risk,... and consider yourself lucky this time.
Details are as follow with Canadian Mercedes-Benz dealership parts department prices:
These are some really funky hose clamps,.. Clic-R is the brand name and they're stainless steel so they won't rust.
Mercedes-part#: quantity/price/size/inch/mm-diameter
A005-997-19-90 x1 $2.94 3/8" 0.375" 9.83mm
A006-997-18-90 x2 $2.36 1/2" 0.5" 12.70mm
A003-997-57-90 x1 $3.77 5/8" 0.625" 15.88mm
And you'll need a special Clic-R tool: Clic-R clone plier ($15.99)
