Question How long should I keep my 2004.7 C180 Kompressor?

HAS DONE 88,000KMS [50,000MILES], full service history, immac cond. Nothing has ever gone wrong [touching wood]!! Except cam issue oil leak, fixed under warranty. Is the facelift / update model.
Probably over-serviced IE diff oil changed, brakes flushed, coolant flushed, trans inc torque converter pumped, engine liqui moly ceratec treated, every 35,000kms on top of normal [6th monthly] oil filter changes etc, etc
Not a daily driver, gets used for country drives [110kph]. Sometimes +190kph= Never needs oil between services.

Thinking about how long I will keep it??? Any suggestions on what to expect re things going wrong in the future would be appreciated.???

Considering a newer model MERC??? But not sure??

THOUGHTS PEOPLE??

I'm keeping mine because I don't like the w204 body style. And the GLA ... ugh ... talk about a melting car ...

I think the general word is that these cars will last 500k kms, transmissions double that.

Your car still has pretty low miles.

I would check and change PS fluid every few years to keep the rack and pump clean ... this seems to be a sensitive spot with our cars.

If you have the M271 engine, check the vacuum pump in the rear of the head for oil leak. Also check vacuum hoses around where the kompressor is.

Prepare for front suspension work, pay attention to any knocking you hear during braking. Control arms, struts, strut mounts/bearings, sway bar links and bushings will pretty much do it up front. Just shocks in the rear. If you DIY you can do the full front suspension + rear shocks for around $1000.

Thanks for your feed-back. Re the M271 Engine vacuum hoses, read there is a recall on in the U.S. to replace these under warranty. Checked here in OZ nothing, our cars here are S.A. manufactured, maybe better hoses used??? 500,000kms wow!! do you know of anyone who has got that? Also how much of an issue are the timing chains??

Thanks again!!

I think there's another thread on hi mileage winners ... we should have at least a few people over 200k miles at this point.

Reading through the forums these past couple of years, I don't remember hearing much about timing chains. I would suggest you do a search here and on benzworld to see what you can find. In any case you should be a long way before anything like that has to be dealt with.

No major issues that I've heard of (such as the throttle body, head gasket and engine wiring harness horror stories on the w202 C280 straight six, or the electrical problems on the earlier Es ...)

I'm at 112k miles. So far so good, although I have a few things to chase down still. And the dash rattles are starting to get noticable ...

Those rattles in the dash should not come from a MB. Not good.

With Bilstein shocks, ContiExtreme DW tires, and a Pioneer/Alpine/Hertz sound system, I'm not surprised that a few things have shaken a bit loose ...

Fortunately the stereo drowns out pretty much anything while I'm listening to music. But yes I'd like to find these noises. I'll be posting a new thread on this topic as soon as I can get a good video capture of each sound (they are distinctive).

I have MB C180, kompressor, 2007 model, done 65 K Km. Yesterday, the message said"top up coolant". When I opened the coolant lid it was filled with "espresso coffee". There was oil in it! It has gone for repair now. Any suggestions? What could be the possible reasons for this breakdown and how to prevent it? Is there inherent tendency for this faul?

i believe thats when the gaskets are leaking oil into coolant, the block may have warped... tell us the cause please..
