03 C230K Sedan Thermostat Problem
So I wanted to replace the thermostat on the car but when I took off the underbelly and I tried to twist the red cap on the radiator to flush the coolant and the red cap was broken and the rest of the cap is stuck all in there.😒
Can I still replace the thermostat without flushing the coolant?? Please help!😕
Thanks in advance

I did without draining the coolant about 2 months ago. It's fine, just be ready for some to drain out when you pull the thermostat housing out of the engine. I lost about 1/3 of my coolant by doing this, but it's really easy to top off when after you get the new thermostat installed. Just make sure you have something under the car to catch the coolant (I used a paint tray) and you'll be good to go.

Man... my red drain plug also snapped when I tried to twist it. Ended up using left-hand drill bits to get the little b*ch out.
Make sure it's not leaking now. Mine appeared OK, I even drove some 80 miles to the dealer to buy a new plug.

You don't need to drain the coolant at all. But as other people said, some coolant (maybe 1L) will gush out because of the low position of the tank. No biggie. Fill with distilled water partially, then drive to the dealer and pick up a jug of MB coolant. You want a 1:1 ratio, so don't fill your coolant tank completely until you're able to match the water you put in earlier!
Not sure why you guys are touching the red radiator cap. No need at all for this job.

Left handed drill bits!!! I've never heard of that (maybe they are for use south of the equator! ). Where and why would you get any of those???

I got my set at harbor freight.
AFAIK, they are precisely for getting out stripped bolts, because as it bites deeper into the bolt, it kind of applies torque to unscrew it at the same time.
