Motorola Timeport?
Anyone have any idea of where I can purchase the factory Timeport kit (including phone), other than my local extortionist, er .....dealer...

Auto Class has a kit listed on their web site-I have not bought anything from them so I cannot comment on their service.

V60 "upcharge?"
I ordered my C230 (with K2 phone package) about a momth ago and was given a late December build date. When I asked about the Timeport vs. V60, they said that there would be a $400 - $600 "upcharge" to get the new phone. Is this complete BS? If I'm already paying $1k for this phone, I'll be damned if I'll pay any more!

Thanks awiner
K2 vs. K2a--that must be the difference. I got the K2, which does NOT include the voice recognition. Both the K2a and the V60 do. If you order the K2a, they probably wouldn't charge you anything more, as you've already paid the difference ($500) for voice recognition. If I can bring up a name from the steering wheel controls, that's good enough for me.

It's a shame that it isn't available without the telephone in the package. My company just provided me with a cell phone which happens to be a Motorola Timeport. All I'd need is rest of the kit. I thought I could do without it, but some tricky engineer put that NO PHONE on the darn screen, so unless I leave the buttons alone, I can never forget that I am somehow... incomplete.
I do have a question though... I've tried to figure this out on my own, but how does service work? Do you pick your service (i.e. AT&T, Verizon, etc.), or is it through a MB contracted company somehow? Presently I'm getting my cell service from Verizon Wireless.

SFVideoGuy - The price still shouldn't be different. I have been told that the K2 packag with the V60c would be the same proce as the Timeport package. But then again, until the retial release who knows what can happen. The K2a system actually included a Voice Rec. module that is totally separate from the V60c. This VR module is what makes the Voice Rec features of COMAND work. The V60c has its on VR mode, however that is only used when the phone is out of the vehicle cradle.
o2bsurreal - Motorola uses a different firmware in their Mercedes branded phones. This firmware tells the unit how to interact with the COMAND system. So they are one up on us. We can't use a non Mercedes branded Timeport/V60c in conjunction with the COMAND system...
The phones come in CDMA and TDMA . You tell Mercedes what service (company) you want and they provide the correct coded phone. For Verizon, that would be digital CDMA ...

Hey guys...I started this thread before I found this one. Bascially, I got my c230 w/ the K2 Package...but then the dealer said that the phone would cost an extra $300! So I said forget the phone. So now I'm wondering if the dealer ripped me off or not??? Wasn't I supposed to get the phone WITH the package? Any input would help. Here's my link to the thread I started. https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...timeport+phone
