Muffler sound at idle:
Mine was sort of a low growl yesterday, definately audible, from the muffler. I hadn't heard it before, and assumed it was quiet.
Also, it sounded like there was some rattling from under the muffler.
Anyone have any suggestions for new exhausts / mufflers - that are available in Toronto?
Cheers
Keith
If you go to the back of your car and listen to the muffler, can you hear anything? I have the c230, which could be a difference, and I agree with you that the muffler doesn't indicate shifting one bit, instead you have to try and find that bloody tachometer.
Two more thoughts: I was shifting pretty hard last night, and I usually expect the car to cut me off at red line, but at second gear I got it up to about 6200 and then was shifting, but I was completely expecting to be cut off. Does the fuel cut off work at all gears or just first (haven't experimented with others)
And 2nd, is the supercharger on at all rpms or just at the higher rpms. And what should I be trying to listen for. I think I hear this whiring that is the super charger, and then the engine, but I'm not sure. I've been trying to listen for two noises....
And hows toronto :P I went to U of t for the past 3 years.

As for the SC - afaik it should be spinning at all rpm's, but doesn't really provide much boost until it start to spin fairly fast. Someone will probably know what rpm the boost starts to kick in.
I agree, tha damm tach is kinda hard to find - I'd love to have an RPM readout on the computer display! But if I can get a better sounding muffler, it might make shifting a bit easier for me. I like to have the radio on most of the time, and as it is, the radio pretyy much covers the engine noise completely (I guess that's the Luxury part of MB...)
Toronto is, well, Toronto for the most part - snowed yesterday, the 320 was great with 4 Blizzak LM-22's, heh, ended up passing a bunch of yahoo's driving with summer tires.....
