Cruise Control strange behaviour

Cruise Control strange behaviour
Hi Guys

I recently bought a 2004 C Class and its great. One thing I noticed last night is when I used the cruise control, the speed seemed to fluctuate up and down changing gears and not stay at a constant speed? Can anyone advise what could be wrong? There are no warning lights on the dash like the EPS / ABS which could indicate a bad sensor etc?
