2006 C230 Sport Automatic Shifter Knob Removal
I am attempting the paperclip fix for the chrome bezel at the bottom of the shifter boot and I have been able to get the center panel up, but I cannot lift the entire assembly up unless I remove the shifter knob. I have tried everything. There are no screws or clips or anything that I can see.
Any help would be appreciated. I have included a picture of my assembly.

I got it figured out. You have to lift up the entire silver console panel, then just under the boot there is a small plastic collar, you turn that one quarter turn counter clockwise then it drops down. You can then see there are 4 plastic prongs holding the entire shifter knob assembly onto the shifter itself and all you have to do at this point is simply pull up on the shifter knob, with some serious force I might add, until it comes right off.
I suggest you have the gear in neutral because you do not want to hit your hand on the radio or dash.
