here are the first official pics of the new C55 AMG, and the C-class facelift. the new instruments look like my VW passat ones, but also very good. the new (e-class based) clima-control is also very nice. and the new bigger DVD-Navigation (with MP3) is well known from the S, and CL since Nov.03.

The sportcoupe will get rearlight with white stripes. The C55 burns 367 HP und 510 NM on the road.

all cars will have SL-style LED break- and backlights, this might be an interesting upgrade for current c-class owners!

I must say, new interior looks sharp... I don't know about those exterior shots tho, seems fishy still. The grille looks terrible imo and why is it that the C-wagon has the elevated headlamp washer while the "C55" has the flush integrated washers like the new SL?

367 hp? Doesn't seem like an incredible jump from the C32, but maybe it's got a flatter torque curve or something?

Looks/ sounds like a good set of improvements. The revised instrument cluster removes one of my issues with the current Cs. Will these be the real 2004.5s?

Big improvement on the rear lights for the coupe over the current styling.

The DVD COMAND uses the MOST protocol on the fiber optic loop. Our cars use D2B. The DVD COMAND won't work unless MB modifies it to work on D2B. Since MOST is where MB is going, I doubt that there will be a DVD COMAND that can be retro-fitted to D2B cars.

I guess I am getting new tail lights...those are hot!

The interiors....ewwwwwww....are they UGLY! Very modern looking, not classy enough...and the buttons on the wheels...very Lexusish.

Looks like the front bumper of the coupe gets a lift as well.

That front bumper is neither the current stock version or the amg version offered.

its a sharp interior, i like it!!! but the gauge looks a litt'l bit like audi's gauge

new C230k Sport Sedan???
 

Any idea if this "facelift" will be arriving on my new C230K Sedan when it arrives in late January/Early February? It was built on December 17th.

In my memory he smoked them backwards...grr. I've seen a car with smoked clear part and red otherwise, and it looked hot too.

Looks almost exactly like the Audi A4 cluster...

When will we be able to check the new facelift at the dealers? Early January maybe?

I like what I see. New interior looks cool, love the ringed gauges. The new steering wheel for the coupe is great! The amber lights are gone as well.

The new nose on the coupe is going to be a definate upgrade should mine need to be repaired or replaced! Love the more aggressive look!

I think the fuss some folks are making about the tail lights on the coupe is pretty overblown. They are the same shape, just with the white stripes ala the SLK. I think if they added a portion on the hatch with some lights it would change the look of the rear end significantly. Still, not a high priority in my book.

According to the european publications on the subject I've read, production begins as of February 2004.

If it is true that the facelifted C240 gets a new 2.5 making 190HP, then I'm tradin'...

Why would MB have 2 models (the 240 and the 230) both available in Sedan both pulling 190hp (189)? I understand one is a 6 the other a SC 4, but still...thats odd.

I agree. Very stupid! it makes no sense, i understand the C230 sedan is a little more sporty, but its not such a big difference, they can delete either the C240 and make a C230 sedan without the sport package if they want. And its pretty much the same thing.

well, for that you can look back at the 99-2000 w202 C280 and the C230k. They both had 190 something horsepower, but the C280 had a more useful torque band.

That makes a lot of sense. When we got our 230k sedan, the main negative thing we put on the initial survey was that the car had no power at low engine rpms. If a new 240 comes with the engine stated above, that problem would be completely solved.

Also, weren't sales of the 240 going down the drain?

The interior is probably important too. For example, my wife hated the wood look of the 320 and really liked the aluminum of the 230. Others are probably just the opposite, yet don't want to blow a few thousand extra for the 320?

I think the 240 still sold better than the 320. Every where you look it's 240 passing by. Most who buy'em don't care about hp and TQ all they need to know it's that it has a V6 and has a bargain price tag to go w/ it.

I can't stand the wood trim in the W203 as well. Somehow the pattern they chose for the trim looks like those faux trims used in Chrysler. It's kind of like you buy a IS300 and order it w/ the wood trim on the door handle.

some people do like them tho. It still gives the car a warmer look inside.

Wasn't it also the case that the 230 sedan is a model over here only? Could it be that it was in response to a more youth oriented driver, more affordable. The C240 may be OK at highway speeds but didn't really satisfy below that. JMHO

don't think that's the case because C230k is availble everywhere. Speaking of sales figure, I was only thinking about the US. sorry if it wasn't clear.

through out the world, the most model sold would probably be the C200k or the C180k:nix:

It doesn't appear on the German website, pricelist or build your own. And I'm too lazy to search country by country other than USA and Canada.

I spoke with my local dealer about this and he said that the facelifted version was only going to apply to the AMG V8 C-Class for the US market.

Any thoughts?

The C230K sedan is only available in the US. So maybe if the C240 gets a power boost they will dump the C230K Sedan and make an option for the C240 Sport Sedan. Also good dump the kompressor coupe and go to a C240 coupe as well. Then again I like the SC'ed 4 banger sound and feel and they seem to be keeping the 1.8 around for the SLK redo... Maybe they will boost the power on the 1.8 to be over 200HP all around and keep both the 240 and the 230....

everyone with a c240 right now got jipped.... thats all i can say :X i want the c55 :D

If u wanna go by that then u have a C260, but i think it would be a good idea to change the model so people know its different, i doubt they will just like the C230 Coupe is now a 1.8L and still a C230.
