power steering level???

my C320 is making an awful noise when turning the steering wheel in either direction. It looks like the fluid level might be low or something?

Anybody knows where you measure this? I cant find a stick anywhere.

Needless to say I am taking it to the dealer but I would like to know if the level is low or if it is something else.

It is low. The dipstick is built-in Pull off the air intake on the drivers side to view. It usually makes that noise during colder weather, during cold engine conditions.

you are indeed correct. The noise is more evident when cold. After a while it kind of goes away. I am checkig right now.

By the way, what fluid should I get? Anything that I can get at an auto parts?

come on people, just tell me how it looks like and how to access it so I can measure the level.

Also, what fluid can I buy to fill it up?

I recently had the same problem and MB replaced the power steering pump. They have a test to check the pressure in the sytem. This is how they determined the pump is bad.

Follow the air inlet tubes from above the radiator to where they end. That is the air intake. It should not be too hard to find as it has a filter in it and if you have the V-6 there are two air tubes going to it from the front of the car. And if that does not help I do not know what to tell you.... It should not be dificult to figure out where the intake is on any vehicle, let alone this one as it is most likely right on the top of the engine. My C230K 1.8L is on the right side of the engine. Yours being a 6 it is commonly mounted in the center of the V, between the two banks above the intake manifold.

no luck yet

ok, I see the air intake.

I have removed the plastic cover that connects to the air tubes you mentioned.

Belowe that I can see the intake manifold but i just dont see anything that looks remotely like a power steering pump/dipstick.
