well, autolamps-online said that they do warranty that everything will work.

If there is any parts not working, they will exchange it, and will give you a set of free halogen of your choice, to compensate on the trouble of dealing with your non-working parts.

That's what I call excellent customer service.!

my understanding was that they have like a 14 day guarantee... but not a 5-year warranty on the parts.

here's some interesting info from their site regarding hids:

8. Doesn't the use of Xenon lamps cause more irritation amongst other drivers?
The International regulations governing light distribution and intensity on the road are very strict. Xenon light falls well within these standards. Technically speaking , xenon lighting is less irritating than halogen lamps. This is because the light darkness transition border are much more clearly defined. Less light is reflected into the eyes of oncoming drivers.
The increased light output is used to give more homogeneous light distribution and to improve the illumination of the verges. The above are only achieved if the following 3 International regulation conditions are met.

The headlamps must be correctly aligned according to the regulations.

The vehicle must be fitted with an automatic headlamp leveling system.

The vehicle is fitted with an automatic headlight cleaning system. Without such the dirt acts as a diffuser for the light and distributes it in areas beyond the prescribed range.
i think this may be why mb has the washers required in order to get the hids as options!

9. Why is it that Xenon light sometimes causes irritation to oncoming drivers?
In normal conditions drivers look straight ahead. Due however to the conspicuous colour of the new technology drivers are more inclined to look into other cars headlights.

The same phenomenon was experienced with the introduction of halogen lamps in the sixties. In those days drivers spoke of those 'irritating white lights'. Everybody will gradually become accustomed to this type of light as they did to the introduction of yellow lights in France and the use of a third brake light.

i have yet to see anything from HIDS4less, but i placed my order with mike, and he seemed with it. He knew about the group buy, he told me the stage 2 parts were all in stock, and even knew the price with the group buy.

I will call on monday and see whats going down.

BTW the folks at keenen dont believe that you can even change the halogen/xenon thing in the star diag. I even sent the service guy randys SS and he was like.... i dont know anything about that.....

so i guess i will try MB of P. . . . . i swore to god i would never go in there again.

Yesterday I received a refund check from HID4LESS in the amount of the difference between Stage 2 (for which I was billed) and Stage 1 (which I had ordered) prices. Have yet to receive the package itself. I think we should wait a few days before we start screaming.

Still can't understand why Young wasn't in their computer... Maybe none of us are and they just maintain a "paper" database for this group buy?

Does anybody have an in with their service guys to get a copy of the laptop diagnostic software? It would be great to be able to set the Xenon option on our own. It's the only think I'm waiting for before ordering.

Either Mbtech or Randy (can't remember now) had already addressed this issue a few monts ago - it's not a simple solution. Firstly, it's not just a pure laptop, but a cart-based setup which the laptop docks into; secondly, this is a MB proprietory software that is not available outside the dealer's circle.

I"m pretty sure the software, even if pirated and instaled on a laptop, won't work without such cart/docking station.
