2006 C280--is my front SAM bad?
i have a 2006 mercedes c280 4 matic. the instrument cluster is acting kind of crazy. here are the symptoms. the SRS light is on. the BRAKE lite is on. the bright light indicator is on and the headlights are on as well but the headlight switch is off. the readout says "display malfunciton" or something simular, brake fulid low, the horn doesnt work and a few other things im sure that i havent discovered. the turn indicators dont work and above the clock in the cluster it says +185 degrees. the power door locks dont work. the cooling fan is running on high even at cold start up with the A/C off. i replaced the battery and the cororeded negitave cable. i installed a mercedes battery. i thought it might be the ECM but it starts just fine though. does it have a seperate "convenience computer" that may cause this? also i was out of the country for 2 months and when i returned the battery was very dead. i charged it with a pretty smart charger and it said it was at 100% and the vehicle started but the problem was there. 3 days later (without driving the vehicle) the battery was dead again. when i installed the new Mercedes battery i put the positive terminal on first. when i connected the negitave terminal it had a big arc. obviously something is pulling big amperage. i assume they are related. any ideas?
