2001 W203 C200K (M111.955 engine) Help needed :(

Hi all,

My W203 C200 Kompressor (2001, M111.955 engine) has a noisy belt.
Unfortunately I don't have access to good independent mechanics, and the stealership will charge even more. So I have no choice but to DIY.

Searching online, the problem is likely one of the following:
-belt tensioner pulley
-idler pulley
-steering pump
-aircon compressor pump

I am facing a couple of problems:

1. Can't find repair manual for this particular car / engine combi. I've seen W203 Service manuals (haynes + merc DVD) but they are for the M112 engine variation (USA).

2. How do I find the right parts to give me the parts specific to my model?

I've been searching online for a few hours to no avail!

Appreciate any guidance.

Thanks!

Easiest way to check is to remove the belt, then spin each pulley to see which is making the noise. You pull the air filter housing to get access to the belt.

Hi KSKarl,

Thanks for the reply!!
Would this be the air filter:
Attachment 445639

If so, would you be able to suggest any search terms I could use to find the disassembly instructions?

In the last hour of more searching, I've realised that the M111.955 engine is also on the C230K Coupes (early 2000s). So I've also tried searching for C230K repair manuals, but to no avail.

Latest thing I've found are the WIS / ASRA manuals on Ebay, which I've gone ahead and purchased, but they will take some time to reach me.

Yes, that's the air filter. Disconnect the air ducts from both ends to remove it.
Sorry for the late reply, I was off line for a few days.

Pushed the wrong button there...
After you get the air filter housing out, pull back the belt tensioner to get the belt off. Then you can see how each pulley spins.

Thanks KSKarl,

I managed to do this and it was teh steering pump bearing that was shot.
Replaced it and things are good :)

Thanks again.

KSKarl,
I have the same problem, but I do not know how to get the air filter housing out. You said that( Pushed the wrong button there....) what it means ? there are three grommets underneath of housing .Can you give me some crack method. Thank you very much!

Pull. Assuming we're talking M111 here, just pull up hard.
Remove the bolt on the plastic intercooler hose, and the intake clamp and pull.
