Why I bought a mercedes.

Well, you know, I've had my share of problems, but at the end of the day, she''s been a reliable ride, that with regular maintenance, and lot of little problems, I still look forward to getting behind the wheel.

Little things I've done lately, put in a Schoche FM modulator, in dash, Aux input yes!
Repaired the IR sensor on the drivers side door, so sweet!
Replaced the ESP Yaw sensor no more constant error, (30 on ebay 800 from Mercedes), replaced the door stop things for the 2nd time on drivers side,
new speaker grills, got a bunch of door clips too so it's solid.
Scrubbed the Sheit out of my leather seats with Lexol and they almost look new. New Michelin Pilot Sports! Yeah!
New plugs, and brake booster (that was expensive)
but hey, she's still looking at driving good at 220K miles!

Wow. Some nice new boots!

C230 Sport Coup 11-28-2014 12:08 AM

Oh yeah, and I replaced a blown speaker in the drivers side door.

coopershawk 11-28-2014 09:35 PM

When you replaced the spark plugs did you also do the coil packs? I just did my plugs and my indy said I should also replace my coil packs...they were cracked and deteriorating according to him.

C230 Sport Coup 11-29-2014 03:13 AM

Not necessarily with the spark plug change.
Easy to tell if they're cracked.
I've gone through more than a few coil packs, and
always keep a spare in the car.
And I run copper plugs and change them every 20k miles.

coopershawk 11-29-2014 02:34 PM

Thanks!

Love following your coupe, keep racking up the miles. :y
Everytime I think about getting a new ride, I just go drive mine and it all goes away. :zoom:

cvx 11-30-2014 04:42 AM

Thats a very respectable mileage there :) Never seen a coupe with that much. :zoom:

Also the little repairs there dont seem so bad? I have 384 000km / 240k miles and following stuff happened in the last 1,5 years

-Heater core evaporator change (boy what a job)
-Sway bars and lower control arms were shot
-Air flor meter gave up
-Inlet manifold failed
-One injector failed
-Two stepper motors / links failed
-Both catalytic converters clogged, car was not driveable
-Yet another stepper motor link failure
-AC stopped working when idling
-Sway bars and lower control arms were shot AGAIN after 10k
-Heater booster failed
-Injector seals started leaking again
-Transmission gear shift module failed when I was halfway of 500mile trip back home
-Oil separator failed and leaks
-Trunk jammed and can not be opened

Would have changed the car ages ago but the good W203's still cost here nearly $20k so I havent. The only pro is that I get nearly 60mpg :) Guess will drive this until the bitter end

Holy Hot Sauna Batman! That car only sips fuel! 3.92 liters per 100 Km.

I'm guessing you only go downhill with the wind at your back while being pushed by another vehicle! :)

Overseas they've been getting cars with engines that are very efficient,
while in the states they stuff hybrids with all their complexity and expense down our
gullets. It's a political thing.
If people starting driving cars that get 80 mpg (and yes, they already exist) they'd have to increase the gas tax to make up for lost revenue.
In the case of VW, they build these engines here in the states, but they're only for export. Sux doesn't it!
They get twice the mileage, but the EPA counts pollution per gallon of fuel not by the mile.
So they pollute 10% more per gallon, but go 50-100% further on a gallon.
Stoooopid. I average only about 20-22 mpg.

True. My 50+ mpg maybe looks all nice, but petrol costs here $7 (seven) per gallon, think about driving with cars averaging 10-20mpg. Also yearly diesel+car taxes etc about $600 and cars costing 100% more at the dealer.

Sorry for offtopic :)

C230 Sport Coup 12-03-2014 03:13 PM

New CLA is listed at 70+ mpg on diesel.
But of course, it's not available here.

VVF 12-03-2014 05:38 PM

Is that because most Americans don't like diesel engines? (unless it's in a huge lifted truck)
70mpg! Would eat all those Priuses for breakfast :)

E-class has diesel engines available in the US though.

C230 Sport Coup 12-03-2014 07:09 PM

Yeah, could you imagine buying only 12 tanks of fuel a year, and driving 12K miles?

Well, that's what I get for not reading your profile! It also serves me that I didn't consider that you were in Europe. Sorry for my myopianess! :duh:

Diesel cars are very rare here in the states.

MB@C200K 12-04-2014 02:20 PM

@cvx
