Ok guys, hope I don't **** you off... have been searching the forum for all kinds of info - it's a great resource! I'm ready to do a transmission and rear diff fluid change... so I have the 772.9 transmission which uses the x transmission fluid and the x rear diff fluid? Just want to confirm the type of fluids I can use. I think the trans has to be dealer supplied fluid, correct?
I know there are plenty of write ups on this, but I just want to make sure I get this right for my year and model.

Shell sells trans fluid.
Diff fluid, well, that depends on who you talk to. I'm running Mobil1 75W90 and haven't had any issues. But I'll be changing it to the MB recommended 75W85 soon, as I did note a slight drop in MPGs.
