Center console, lower part won't open
 

I own a 2005 C55 and not sure if the console is the same for all 2005 C-class cars?
Anyway, my upper part that swings up towards the passenger seat works just fine. The problem is that the armrest won't unlock for access to the lower section. It will lift two notches to adjust for armrest comfort, but then won't open.
This happened the other day while on a trip out of town and I had my wallet in there. Luckily after banging on it a few times and using bad vocabulary, it opened. Now I'm afraid to place anything in there until I know it is fixed.
Anyone else seen this problem and what did they do....other than buy a new console from the stealer??

Haven't heard of this but your interior is the same as all 05-07 W203's
