Relearning air recirculation flap M111

Hi,

recently I got code P0410 on my C200 Kompressor, 2001 (M111 engine). I already made sure 2 valves (to the exhaust) for recirculation are functioning well and no leaks in the vacuum system.
Now I want to try to relearn the Recirculation Flap on the intake. I found procedure on a few forums, but I don't understand the process. Could someone here explain me in simple words how it is done?

1 When ignition is switched off press flap slightly past limp home
position. - IS THIS HORIZONTAL OR VERTICAL (open or closed?)

90° position must be changed manually. The processor
shut-off delay has a duration of approx. 5 seconds. (IS THIS THE NEXT STEP OR EXTRA INFO??)

2.Switch on ignition for approx. 15 seconds, switch ignition
back off again and wait for processor shut-off delay.

3. Switch ignition on for approx. 45 seconds, switch ignition
back off again and wait for processor shut-off delay.

The learn-in procedure for the recirculated air flap is then
completed.

Help me please!!
If this doesn't work, should I buy a new flap? Or other suggestions? Clean throttle body? O2 sensors?

Thanks

Remove the air cleaner box. Push the flap with your finger ("change manually") while someone turns on the ignition (not start the car). Cycle as described. It may work, or it may work for a while and need to be sync'd again. If this happens frequently or doesn't work at all, you need a
a replacement air flap. As a new one lists for ~ $1500 look for a used one.
Just did this recently. Got lucky, pulled from Picknpull but with traffic it took a while,
yard was 60 miles away. Problem solved.
New problem, recent rains killed my instrument panel.
Waiting patiently for another coupe to appear at the picknpull.

quick question on doing this

When you manually change the position of the flap, and someone else turns the key to position 2 for 15 seconds, do you keep holding the flap? Or let go as soon as the ignition is on?

another member pointed me towards another thread where it is explained as follows:

Do the following. (from service DVD)

1 When ignition is switched off press flap slightly past limphome
position.
90° position must be changed manually. The processor
shut-off delay has a duration of approx. 5 seconds.
(Which mean, just physically push it a little out of it's normal position when off, while someone else turns on the ignition in step 2)
2 Switch on ignition for approx. 15 seconds, switch ignition
back off again and wait for processor shut-off delay.
3 Switch ignition on for approx. 45 seconds, switch ignition
back off again and wait for processor shut-off delay.
The learn-in procedure for the recirculated air flap is then
completed.

However still doesn't answer my initial question.
Thanks

Flap will close the rest of the way on it's own if it's functioning.
The used one I bought was working great....
but my intrument panel died due to the rain.
Got it working again! Hurray! Got my guages bak!
And immediately the used recirc flap part failed spewing codes...
It's always something.....new one if like $1500 so won't be doing that....
patiently waiting for another 2002 C230 to show up the pick and pull.
236K miles and counting...

Turned out not to be the flap, rather replacement Bremi MAF guts fell out the side, air
blowing out of the intake.
Incidently, either of these pn's works.
Partsgeek has it for ~$350. NEW!
