Reset memory seat? (Driver's seat only moves halfway forward)

I'm back! Bought my wife a C230 Sport, I was on this forum years ago with a w204 C300 that I loved, just picked this up for her today.

It has the memory seat for the driver, which is acting weird, it'll go backwards, up, down, etc, no problem, but won't go all the way forward and she's a bit short, any chance there's a way to reset it? I searched but couldn't find anything specific/conclusive.

Thanks!!!

Searched for an hour, is there a procedure anywhere for either of these? I saw the "Hold forward for 10 seconds" thing but it won't go forward, only in reverse...

It sounds like you are confused between seat adjustment and using the memory to remember the respective seat position. Remember the drivers side memory will if instructed remember the last seat position regardless if the three memory positions are full-------therefore if you cant adjust the seat to the position you want, that is not a memory issue. The issue is with the seat adjustment system and if you do not have the diagnostic equipment you will have to see someone that does--or live with the issue.

Took it to the stealership, they were able to reset it for a half hour's labor ($75) so not terrible.

That's good to hear.

Without the proper dealer-level diagnostics and scanner, it can be hard to say if there's a broken part, of if something has to be reset.
The moon-roofs in many Benz cars have similar issues. Sometimes, it can be reset by some user procedure, sometimes it needs dealer equipment to do the reset, sometimes it's a broken part.

Imho, people should check their user manual to see if there's a user reset that can be done. See the sticky at the top of the forum for the link to the user manuals. If that doesn't solve the problem, then something like an iCarsoft MB scanner might be able to reset the item or define the problem area, or it might take the Dealer STAR diagnostics (and knowledge how to use it and diagnose a problem) to fix an issue.

Resurrecting an old thread.

My new-to-me 2007 C230 driver seat only goes forward about half way, definitely not enough for a shorter person (like my daughter) to reach the pedals. The up, down, tilt, headrest, everything else works fine. Even goes all the way to the back position. Just won't go far enough forward. I checked the seat tracks, no obstacles. Unplugged the control module. REMOVED the control module. Checked all three fuses. Ran it forward and held the switch for 10 seconds, then to the back and held for 10 seconds. Still stops short. Seems like there is something like a limit switch logic telling the seat not to go further.

Short of going to the dealership, does anyone know of a way to reset the seat positions or recalibrate the system to start over and allow it to go further forward? I have a couple of control modules coming from eBay but would like to know in advance if even they might have the same issue.

Thanks in advance.
