erratic idle

erratic idle
my merc has a very erratic idle, especially on cold start. sometime when at a stop street, while idling, it switches off. can anyone please advise. it is a C200K, 2003, W203

These cars frequently have a bad idle, even without codes.. It sucks. Have even heard of this as the "CLASSIC poor mercedes idle". My car has the idle problem, with no codes, and I have brought it to several mechanics that said to leave it alone and there is nothing wrong until you get a code to help...

My issue wasn't as bad as yours but I recently replaced my Mass Airflow Sensors (MAF) for the symptoms you are describing. Idle would be erratic at times, particularly at idle in traffic. Shut off on me once without cause. Haven't had an issue since swapping in a new MAF. I also replaced by crankshaft position sensor for good measure (likely not your problem). Depending on how many miles on your vehicle, another thing to consider is swapping in a new fuel filter.
