icarsoft i980, ESP
#3
Good to know. I just bought the i980 scanner and I get this message when trying to read the ESP: "Failed to communicate with the ECU", or something like that. I did get the same message when trying to read the Transmission codes but if I turn the ignition off and wait 10 seconds and turn it back on then the TRANSMISSION module initializes and I can read codes and erase if present. I could not do the same to read the ESP module. Is there something I need to do like have the engine running or the car moving or press the brake pedal to get the ESP to initialize?
Thanks for the reply.

I ran into the same problem with communication with the TCM. Its a bug either in the icarsoft or TCM. My solution is to enter the TCM module, read codes, exit read codes, exit TCM, re enter TCM, erase codes. If you try to both read and erase codes in one TCM entry it doesn't work. It also fails to give me TCM sensor data no matter what I do. Frustrating. Still, I managed to bring the TCM out of limp home mode with the icarsoft and run many other diagnostics so the tool paid for itself many times over.
good luck
