Can C1172 Fault Code cause other Fault Codes (C1185 and C1036)?
Folks,
The dreaded "ESP Faulty - Visit Workshop" display popped up a few weeks ago and I drove the car to an independent to have the code read.
What popped up were the following:
C1185 - BAS diaphragm travel sensor electrical fault
C1036 - Fault in CAN communication with steering column module
C1172 - N49 (Steering Angle sensor): Internal fault
Question - Can a faulty steering angle sensor cause a cascade of other faults to pop up (mainly C1036 and C1185)? Just don't want to spend the time and effort (and, obviously $$ as well) to replace the steering wheel sensor, only for the fault to remain.
Thanks in advance.

Did you have an alignment recently? If the alignment was not done precisely, it will trigger the steering angel sensor and esp fault. This has happened to me 3 or 4 times due to lazy "mechanics" at merchants auto.
