She's gone....
Yup...I did the unthinkable and sold the C...I've been itching for a new(er) car for a while now, the C has become a bit dated, and isn't the chick magnet it used to be (at least not for the kind of chicks I chase lol)
So I pulled the trigger on a 333 hp supercharged V6 CPO 2016 Audi S4 (I know, I know) and with my DD Frontier, the Benz had to be given up. With a one and a half car garage and a one car driveway, keeping all three cars wasn't gonna work. I'm gonna miss the C terribly, having owned most of the German brands it was my favorite and the longest time I kept a car for.
This forum has been an awesome resource, I did all my prep work here when I did my timing chain job as well as countless other minor and sometimes major issues that make the M271 what it is. I'll miss the wealth of expertise shared here, I hope the Audi folks are half the mechanics y"all are.
Pics of the new ride coming soon!
That being said, I have some Benz items I gathered from the garage if anyone is interested...
-MB DAS (up to MY2011 only, most models including sprinter) plus Dell laptop...-sold
-chilton manual....free..-donated
-strut socket tool...free..-donated
-climate control unit
-rear SAM..picked this up at a junkyard in case I needed it for troubleshooting or as a spare, I never used it
-front seat bottom cushions, unheated, very good condition, pulled them from the same car as the rear SAM
PM with an offer...

Just glad you didn't wreck. When I saw gone my heart jumped for a moment.
Enjoy the new car!

Was good to have you here, RWD.
Enjoy the new ride!
Mind sharing the price you sold the C for?
I am afraid that if I keep it a coupla years longer might be giving it away for free, the prices are getting so low.

I managed to get 5200 for it, which is higher than KBB, but I kept it in good shape and the buyer was able to see that. I originally listed it for 6k to get a feeler, didn't get any hits at all. I lowered the ask to 5500 and got a few. Selling these cars especially with a manual is not easy, but if it's in good shape and you have maintenance records, it will help. I had about 2k in invoices and receipts over the past few years.

Gee, I thought people sought out the manual trans.
I drove the 1.8 many times as a loaner, and on
one of our local main thoroughfares over the mountain pass to the beach,
(Hwy 17) it really dogged at the last steep leg before the summit, and
I always thought that it would be much better with a manual.
VVF, I wouldn't worry much about the value, these are popular cars,
especially at these prices. They've been flat for years.
That being said at a certain point, above 200K it becomes almost impossible to sell
for any amount of money worth selling for, better to keep it.
I mean, ha, how much would I get for my C Coupe with 240K mile, and
a coolant leak in the head gasket, despite everything else (well except the sunroof finally quit(
working. Not much.
I still love driving it. And so I do.
But a low mileage 02 C Coupe in prime condition still fetches a
premium.

Thanks RWD, Todd,
Yea, I guess the keyword is good condition, and maintenance.
Well, that's good to know, and makes me more at ease to keep driving it still. Been quite a positive experience so far.
Just for sh*ts and giggles I asked for a trade-in quote at an MB dealer last year or so... Was insulted to hear some figure like 1500 or something
I believe used engines are now starting to appear here and there for pretty low prices, so as you have said in the past, cheaper to just replace the motor and keep driving it rather than shelling big bucks for a new ride.
The new C coupes look quite nice to me, so maybe in a few years...

RWD! I've taken a hiatus from this site for a couple years now. Only DIY projects I've involved myself with revolved around renovating my condo, purchased back in 2017. Just started picking back up on more extensive maintenance past couple months; especially now due to COVID-19 lock boredom.
My "Rosa" still has your C's transplant head unit from years back, lol, certainly appreciated you selling it so reasonably back then. It's juuuust starting to peel now on the bottom-right corner. Stil works great, but I'll prob get an aftermarket touchscreen and sell it on eBay soon. Anyhow, thanks again for your contribution to the MBWorld community and wealth of knowledge given to me during my timing chain job back in '15, as well as other DIY's.
Audi was a good choice, man. But I have a feeling you'll be back sooner or later. Lol!
Cheers bro!
