2004 C230 M271 1.8L Starter Removal
Hello,
Firstly, this thread is great in diagnosing my problem to begin with (starter)
https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...-no-start.html
As well as these directions for removing the starter:
Remove Rebuild Replace Starter on Mercedes W203 Class vehicles from 2001-2007 (1).pdf
However, My engine must have been built a little differently (than the M111 2.3L), as the 3.5' extension is of no use in accessing the "top bolt" of starter which faces toward the front of the car. Furthermore, the directions seem confusing when referring to the top bolt at all, as for me the top bolt holding the starter was completely accessible with a ratchet, and on the back side of the starter facing to the rear of the vehicle. The bolts which weren't easily accessible were the bolts/terminals which are holding the wires for power, which face forward. In order to access these, I had to order a tight reach tool, delivered in one day by amazon:
Now I have both bolts which hold the starter removed, as well a both bolts/terminals removed which power the starter and the starter is dangling from the wire gang which is somehow attached to the blind side of the starter which I cannot see, only feel. It is some sort of black plastic cap which curves around the back side from which the wire gang departs. What is this?
Is it a clip of some kind?
Is there another bolt I must remove under this "cap"?
Thanks
(Also, I should add, as per the inquiry within the directions above, I DID have to unbolt intake manifold (I believe that's what is it, black filter housing looking thing) in order that the starter move freely from its "housing".

OK after sticking my phone up into the rear of the connection I took a pic. It looks like I may have disconnected the incorrect solenoid to motor connection previously.
Anyone know how to disconnect this?
