C230k selling under invoice now!?
I just checked on CarsDirect.com and the C230K is selling for invoice. I made a call to one of the managers there and they said the price change was due to a new bodystyle coming out.. minor changes, but he couldn't be exact.
Will we be losing the 2.3L engine for sure? Will we get HID's? Argh... so many questions I wish ppl knew the answer to so that I would know when to order my car!!!

Coupes were in the Sunday paper at two dealerships at invoice. MB is dumpin' em to make way for the new model year.
Perhaps they were off on their sales projections given Sept 11th and now they have too many.

If cars direct is selling them under invoice, there must be some big rebates since cars direct has to make something on them too. So you might be able to go to a local dealer with a cars direct print out and get an even better deal. I guess this pretty much kills the idea of Mercedes having good resale value.
Then it wouldn't be worth it.

there is NO way MB will sell the C180 coupe in the states unless BMW start selling 318ti again.
i don't know about you guys but how many of you thinks that manufacturer will replace a bigger engine with a smaller engine (with less output in hp and torque)? not very likely. ( with the exception of C32 AMG)

Most of the time it’s a joke, offers like a 5000 discount on a CL55 things like that. C230k’s are not under any factory support (rebates or trunk money). They are also not selling at invoice or below. If a dealer places an add for a car listing a stock number chances are good that it’s a demo or a field car or a loss leader. That price is not good on the entire inventory. Last month was not a good month for the car business be prepared for more aggressive adds when things slow down. It’s no secret that the engine is going to change the body will not as far as other changes I will check tomorrow I had copies or the ordering guides for the 2003.

I am not sure where this information is coming from. I checked Edmunds TMV as well as carsdirect.com on my zip code, and things have not changed at all. I decided to try Los Angeles prices to see what they are doing. Again, no difference recently. I doubt there is any below invoice going on out there. Maybe the guy read the info wrong and thought MSRP was invoice or something. Otherwise, tell me which zip code to put in for carsdirect.com as I would like to see this below invoice cost.
I just checked Philly prices as well and they are only $100 less than MSRP. Maybe there was a carsdirect computer glitch. Would not be the first time.

Cars direct price
The Cars direct price I received this morning was only $250 below MSRP for a Dallas Zip Code, which is about $250 below what Dallas area dealers are asking - which is MSRP!

I have also checked carsdirect with zip code in the SF Bay area. It crossed out the MSRP when you start quote, that means its absolutely below MSRP. the in the actual quotation, it gives out $100 below invoice. It seems to me that the SF bay area dealer is overstock on the C230k. I remembered last month, someone says 1 dealer in San Jose have over 30 C230k in stock....

There is something not quite right at the carsdirect site. I checked the San Fran prices and my car priced out at $28787 (list $30365). They said that MSRP was $28887 which made their cost $100 under invoice. Well, invoice on my car is actually $28287 based on my zip code at carsdirect as well as checking Edmunds for my zip code as well as San Frans. So, it appears the car might be going for $28787 in San Fran, however, that is actually $500 over MSRP. A computer glitch presumably.
