anyway to dissable RPM limiter on 6spd 05's??

I noticed yesterday that there is an RPM limiter when in neautral on my 6spd 05 W203. Is there a way to remove that? will Dyno mode remove that?

Thanks

The only way to remove this safety feature would be through reprogramming. HTH

why would you want to do that anyway? that's almost like 'launch control' for a standing start :y

Also, i believe that even tho u get to a very high RPM, if it passed the power band, it will not have the power anywayz... dunno if im rite or not tho

peak torque is at 3500 anyway, right? so you can just floor it, let it stand at the limiter, pop the clutch and gooooo

audi's DSG has a similar feature. you can stand on the brake and gas when it's in 'sport' mode, and it'll hold the revs, when you release the brake it'll launch

sure, but it's not good if i want to do a burn out to warm up my tires at say the drag strip....

Is this limiter in neutral or if the clutch is pushed in?

You can tell I've never tried it!!

Sauceboy01 Oct 10, 2004 03:30 PM

it's in both...

do you really need to heat cycle street tires to drag? I could see if you were running slicks or drag radials, yeah...

Sauceboy01 Oct 11, 2004 01:35 AM

well why not? the warmer the tires the stickier they get regardless of their treadwear. That's just the way rubber works.

Why would you be revving your car in neutral anyways. If you are going to launch it then it needs to be in gear. WHY WHY WHY ??????

808_230K Oct 11, 2004 01:44 PM

yeah, i suppose... i always just fig'd that I was gonna get into racing all hardcore, I'd get purpose-made rubber for it, and keep my street wheels/tires intact

Why would you want to destroy your clutch with a high RPM clutch drop? I can smoke my tires no problem doing a power brake with my 6 speed! And I drop the clutch from like 1500-2000 RPM. No need to go to redline and drop the clutch they will spin just fine without needing to wear your clutch out faster!

how do you power brake?

Hold clutch with left foot, and toe-heel the brake and gas with right. Feather the gas to get a few RPMS and let the clutch out! Hold brake and floor with right foot. Car stays still and rubber is quickly removed from tires. LEaves big black marks and rubber pieces on ground. Once you break the tires lose you can let off the brake a hair to let the pressure off the rear brakes.
