Question Replace Air Filter

Has anyone replaced their own air filter? Not necessarily with aftermarket one. Tried doing a search...not thing really comes up. How difficult is it? At what intervals (mileage)? Is it worth changing on your own, or wait until the service schedules? I did my own dust filter for the climate control....seems like that needs to be changed at 10K. I am wondering if the air filters need to be changed at the same time also. Thanks.

If you're not going to an aftermarket air filter, wouldn't the standard filter be replaced at some point during a routine service?

Ah haaaa. Guess I have some hard lessons in front of me as to how much "free" scheduled maintenance will cost.

I might assume it may be covered during the Service B. But I think the filter needs to be changed before then. If it is done as part of the Service B, then it should be "free"..and I use that term "free" loosely...should it not?
I really do not want to spend $50 or more on labour on an item that I can install in a few minutes myself.
Took me less than 2 minutes to install the dust filter...the part cost $14. The air filter should not be that hard to do.

Two air filters, easy to change. Pull up on the engine cover/airbox to remove. Eight torx screws to remove the two airbox covers. The service booklet lists the replacement cycle at '4 years or 60K miles'.

mleskovar,

thanks for the info. with all the dust and crude in the air in AZ, I will probably need to change the filters a little sooner than the factory recommendations.
