My 2004 c230K will crank but won't start, happened all of a sudden. Video included
I was driving around doing some errands, parked my car, then when I tried to start my car, it started for a brief second then it died. I tried restarting again, and it gave me the same sound as in the video. I had it towed back to my house, tried starting it up while the tow guy was there and it did the same thing. Plugged my car to a battery maintainer for about 2 minutes, this was several hours later. Then it started! But I don't think it has anything to do with the battery after a day of hindsight. I tried restarting the car a few more times during the same day I towed, it worked.
Next day comes, I started the car, it worked. Turned it off, waited for about 5 to 10 seconds, restarted it again, it works. Then the third time, it never worked again. Till this time, it still won't start. So basically in summary, parked car in public space, didn't work. Towed the car home, restarted, didn't work. Waited for a few hours, then it worked for the next 6 times. The 7th and beyond, it does not work.
After the 7th time, when it didn't work, I opened up my hood to see my battery maintainer was disconnected all along. I checked the battery with a multi meter and the battery was good, at around 12.8.
At the end of the video I have all the fault codes that my computer gave me.
Any ideas on what this might be? I am willing to take more videos and pictures if any of you folks need more details. Thanks y'all.
Also, as you are cranking, does rpm stay at 0 or go up?

That said, is that the normal starting sound?
Why does it sound like the engine is running for those few seconds? The fuel pump would be my next guess as well. Might be working intermittently, though mine died instantly. What's your mileage?
To test fuel line pressure, there is a shrader valve at the front of the engine. Remove the cover and look for the (stainless steel) fuel rail. Borrow a fuel pressure gauge or buy one for your tool collection. Be sure to use the correct (European) fitting.
