Question C240 Unknown Fault Codes P2003-XXX

Hello,

New to the forum officially but have gotten a lot of help visiting threads here already.

I have a 2001 C240 6 speed manual with 194k miles. It's cosmetically beat up but it's so fun to drive with the 6 speed and does well with a long commute.

I had a check engine light come on and I have an iCarsoft reader that read the code P2026-004 for the purge control valve. Replaced that and that code is gone.

I now have an engine light again, but my reader doesn't know what the codes are, just reads the numbers. I have the following codes:
P2003-002
P2003-016
P2003-064

The search I've done has shown that P2003 shows up for the air injection system in other models - is it safe to assume that that holds true for this model? If so, do the 002, 016 and 064 sub codes provide any more useful information? I've not been able to find anything about what those might mean.

If nothing helpful can be determined from those subcodes, any tips on what I can look for and test to determine the problem? I am no expert but can manage some repairs on my own. If it's going to be an enormous undertaking then I'll take it to a shop instead, but I'd like to get a gauge on if I can do it first to save some money.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help or has any tips. Let me know if I missed any important info too. Cheers

Thanks for the reply. I would love to have a full system scanner like that one from Youcanic. Unfortunately that's out of budget, especially when I'll need to buy parts on top of that. I may swing by a local shop here that helped me out when a lube shop overtightened my oil drain plug. If I can pay them to do the diagnostics then at least I'll know if I can manage the repairs myself or not from the start.

I'll post an update if I go that route and what the result is in case anyone else has similar issues.

The shop diagnostics was helpful - broken vacuum line making some other components throw codes. Should be an easy fix. But I do also need to replace pretty much the whole front suspension system. Leaking struts, bad bushings, etc. Doesn't seem too terrible as a DIY, I figured might as well replace the components as the prices aren't bad and it sounds better than struggling with the bushings.

If anyone sees this and has done their control arms, sway bar end links, and struts on their W203 and has any wisdom to share I'd welcome it! Going to take a close look at the parts this weekend to be sure I get the right ones from RockAuto.
