02 C230 Clean title Copart $500 or LESS?

02 C230 Clean title Copart $500 or LESS?
So, I'm looking online at used cars (just for the hell of it), what the F#&#& are people smoking?
Used C240's 6-8 years ago sold for 2-5K in great condition. All used cars are WAAAY up in price.
A used low mileage 02 C230 is getting hard to find in good condition.
Collectable? I've been debating, fixing mine up which at 260K miles is a big endeavor, at the very least I will need a new head gasket and a
timing chain. which would likely cost about $4K if I hired someone or a different car.
But what to get?
So I popped onto Copart, and came across this. $550 BIN or best offer.

If I had a place to put it I'd buy it if for nothing else, parts.
If I could determine whats wrong with it and fix it,
I could maybe, just maybe make money it, but doesn't matter. I only have one space in my garage, and it's occupied.
People do have huge storage units around here where they do repairs and such...I'd have rent a Uhaul and tow it up here
from Sac. One thing about this model car is I am very familiar with it, and I could even use parts off my current car to troubleshoot.
Anyway, just kicking it around. Where I live now isn't condusive to owning a Mercedes . Picknpull is non-existant.
For someone here in the forum though, might make sense. God I hate that cinnamon color.
Mileage is unknown, but based on the seats I'd say under 150K...hmmmm.
Somebody here should grab it, parts or a project?

That is dirt cheap, even if for only a parts car. I agree with you about used cars and the pricing being insane. It's hard finding these cars in well kept condition as it is, let alone having to dump money into bringing everything back from neglect after you find one.

The insurance adjuster would ¢rap his pants if you pulled that up to a shop to supply all the needed parts for a major front or rear end hit.
He wouldn’t know what to do because you just clobbered his estimate and he has to pay you for the parts he’ll no doubtably say can’t be sourced.
