Door Check Straps
Hello,

So I've been ignoring the click and creaking noise my door check straps are currently making but now Im at the point that I need to fix the noise...

Has any fixed the clicking and creaking noises of the check straps? Yes I tightened the bolts and I've added some lubricants on the exterior portion im assuming the lube needs to go inside?

Not sure if it helps but I found just replacing them with a set from the junkyard fixed me right up.

MB’s of all kinds.
There is no fixing, but only replacing. Fixing and messing with the straps will only temporarily solve the clicking. W203/209 need them replaced sooner rather than later. When one side goes do the other side too.

There's no reason why the mechanisms can't be regreased internally. The door side and the roller mechanism can be easily reached by removing the trim and peeling back the waterproof foam layer. I imagine the body side would be the same. The rollers are on the door side.

@slammer111 I've been trying to find images of the check strap online to see if I can regrease it internally the images I've found looks like it's an enclosed system I've never done it before. Here's the part # 2037200116 so you can look at the mechanism, other check straps you can see the roller and indents so you can easily grease but this one has my scratching my head.

Interesting. Looks like a sealed unit. I'm sure there's a way to take it apart, but it's probably easier and cheaper to simply replace the unit.

Mine broke twice on drivers side. Replaced once with
new and one used since they were no longer holding the door.
Looks like you can still buy them.
