W203 C230 Sport Sedan suspension

How is eveyone doing? I 'm new to the mercedes tuning, I used to tune import rice rocket. But anyway....i'm done with my import days.

I have a question about the suspension on the 04 c230 kmpresser sport sedan. I'm lookin into lowering my car with H&R sport spring. now since the sport sedan has already a lowered suspension comparing to the not sport sedan(example c320,etc..) If i get the H&R is it going to lowered my car 1.4"in the front and 1.3" in the rear from my stock setup?

I know this sounds a dumb question but the reason why i ask is because i know that all the W203 cars suspension are interchangeble. That's why i was wondering if the claim 1.4 in drop is from the non sport version.

And also I was also wondering if i can get some opinon on the H&R sport spring.....is it too stiff for the stock strut? and is it going to tuk the rear tire a bit? Thank you very much....and sorry for all the question.

SoNic,

I'm fairly a newbie, but I know MANY newbies that have been FLAMED for asking a question like this, let alone starting a new thread, so just want to help you out:

Before you ask, do a SEARCH
https://mbworld.org/forums/search.php?searchid=334414

The search I provided above is for suspension upgrade in the C32/C55 and reg w203 forum.

If you had done "rice rocket" tuning before, I'm sure you had message boards very similar to this, so I'm sure you'd be familiar with how to perform "effective" searches. If not, read the FAQ's. They'll help out a lot.

If you notice, I have VERY FEW posts. The reason is that MOST of my questions were answered just by doing searches and reading the boards.

So before you get flamed, check the link I gave you above and see if you can find your answers from there.

Good luck.

By the way, I believe the H&R sport springs still lowers the car lower than the stock sport springs.

well will lower your car more then the stock suspension...i have hnR springs with stock struts.. its fine... its a lot stiffer... and i cut my front springs half a coil to even out with the rear...its fine...aftermarket springs will wear out your struts much quicker then usual...but.. over all the looks awesome with the springs...look great...

I had the same question about a month ago. I went with just the H&R sport springs set up and it is a perfect set height for me. No scraping whatsoever, as far as the ride its almost the same as 05. I know people say the sport suspension is lower than non sport but I think they are the same. However you may notice the 05 is lower than our 04. My front used to be 4 fingers gap and rear is about 3 , where as the 05 is 3 in the front and 2 in the back. Now with the H&R set up front is 2 fingers and rear is 1 finger (with passenger in the back there is no gap at all). IT changes the appearance dramatically. If you want to start off with minimal $, try just the H&R springs, otherwise I heard the cup kit is pretty good too. Hope this helps.

Here's how mine sits with the H&R cup kit and half coil cut off the front springs to even the drop with the rear.

Goldenbudda,

Height looks good. I really like the wheels. Where do you find them?

Initially I was going to get replica wheels, but then I decided not to look like everyone else.... So I went to a few local wheel shops and checked out some wheels. It was fun.... stressful but good fun!

I heard cutting springs is the definite wrong thing to do...no exceptions.

Bah...1/2 coil is nothing. The ride feels exactly the same as before.

Its not the ride, its how the spring sits in the seats afterward.

Here's mine with Eibach springs and Bilstein shocks. The gap is 2 fingers at the front and 1 at the rear. Ride comfort is still pretty good compared to original.

Here's mine using B&G Springs and 1 full coil cut off the front springs.

xxbenzc230kxx and Blake P,
I believe cutting front springs in increment of 1 full coil to make them sit correctly on the bottom spring perch and align (fill up the whole groove) on the top mount. How you guys manage to do yours?

Not really sure how it was done. I just asked them to make it sit even in the front and rear without damaging ride quality and the guy said cutting half coil should do it. I'm extremely happy with the result!

Well ive been really thinking about getting a new suspension as well. However rims are the main thing for me right now. My question *wont getting the h&r or b&g suspension void our warranty? Thats my only reason for not wanting to get the suspension. I really need to keep my car under warranty. TIA guys

I have never heard of anyone's warranty being voided by installing lowering springs or suspension kits. Just make sure you stick with the reputable brands and have a qualified shop do the install.

It won't void the whole warranty. It may void just your suspension warranty, ie: shocks and struts, but those things aren't that expensive. Your mechanical, electrical, engine, tranny and so on will still be covered by MB.
