License Plate Frames (All You Want To Know)
tommy-
I remember that you had trouble with your licence plate frame fitting with the trunk handle. I have the trunk handle and was consdering getting a frame, did you end up going with one of the "official" MB ones, or another one? Although, I guess I could always just get some longer screws and then there probably wouldn't be any problem at all.

Out Of Control!!
I ended up giving up to concentrate on leather colors.
My problem with the license plate frame was this: I've got alumni plates (Go Nittany Lions!), and there's wording at the bottom of the plate. The screws were not long enough to go through this raised portion of the license plate, the frame itself, and the handle.
The non-lazy solution (I don't have a frame at all right now) would've been to get a frame that cut across the plate lower so that it didn't go across the raised lettering, or your solution: longer screws. I did try a cheapo jobby from Autozone, but the screws were of a different size.
Didn't have the patience to look for longer screws. If you find a set, let me know from where. Also, if you don't have the same problem with the license plate, it'll fit fine. My regular Joisey plate fit fine with the frame and handle.

Thanks tommy
Actually what made me think of this was that when I installed the handle the dealer's frame (thankfully dealers in CA put these on the car instead of cheezy emblems) no longer fit because the screws weren't long enough, perhaps this won't actually be a problem with an actual Mercedes derived frame.
Regarding the screws, I'd imagine any decent hardware store should have ones that fit, just have to spend some time going through the little trays to find one of the length and twist needed.

License Plate Frames
I'm still waiting impatiently for my C to arrive....(hopefully THIS weekend.)
In anticipation, I've taken to ordering accessories. I bought the micro fiber towels and the water blade...and am now wondering about License Plate frames.
Does anyone know where to get high quality frames (besides mbusa.com)?
Feel free to post pics of the frames you have on your car now.

Believe it or not, I'm using the frames from my dealer EuroMotorcars. They're not too bad, and a lot of M-B's here have them. I didn't let them put their badge on the trunk, but I'll use their frames. But, the carbon fiber frames on MBUSA look nice -- I think they match the beltline trim on the doors... might get them.

I had the chrome frame with mercedes written on the bottom in script. I probably wouldn't have purchased it myself, but since it was a gift I did install it. I actually liked it once it was on the car.

I've just got plain black metal frames for both plates. I like the look of the black frames with the black car. I think it looks more "finished" than just the plate, but it all depends on the plate too. My plate is kind of plain. I think I bought mine at Pep Boys.

I'd like to recommend the trunk handle - for $19 it's a nice item to keep fingerprints and scratching to a minimum when closing the hatch. Although, some plate frames have attachment issues when using the handle unless new (longer) screws are used.

Yes, I have THE place
for a high quality frame
Get a Becart frame - do a search on your engine for Becart license frame.
It is a custom piece
It is a gorgeous one piece billet of aluminum or stainless steel -- even has the entire backing -- he has a new one for a Mercedes - might have to call him for it as I could not click on the photo for order info.
Anyway, he has dimpled ones for Audi TTs which complement their theme and all their owners rave about Becart frames.
It will cost about $85.
If you want a nice polished stainless steel that complements the "chrome" of your car, Porsche has one (go to the Porsche dealer) for about $32 that is really nice -- has no writing on it -- just a classic slimline frame with chrome buttons to hide the screws. It's the one I have because my wife would think $85 is a bit much even though the Becart is a substantial piece.

custom-made illuminated License Plate Frame!
The latest development by Harton Motorwerks. The AMG logo is for display purpose only. You can put whatever letterings you want. This is only a prototype, please feel free to give comments!! I might not make it if people don't like it.

I like the look of the lighted frame. How does it function (i.e. wiring etc)? How much does it cost? Also, do you make illuminated door sills and what is the price on those? Do they come with installation instruction or are you on your own there? It's great idea!

if the price is reasonable, im very interested. The lettering "Mercedes-Benz" in red, or even a picture of the star illuminated in red will look incredible especially at night as it matches the rear lights. Let us know harris!!!

I like the concept, but my concern is that the illumination will be "washed" out by the lights above the license plate, thus losing the effect. Perhaps they would work for the front plates.

Good point, but what about the wiring issue? What would you split into on the front plate? Maybe he should take a pic of a car at night with the frame on to show waht it looks like. That would be helpful!
