Oil changes???

i think that this topic has been discussed before.. but hopefully you guys can answer my question. My c230k is almost 7k miles. and the dealer told me that i have to get service A done aat 10k miles. But is it safe to have your car running till 10k miles with out getting an oil change? I thought that you should change it every 3-5 k miles. what do you guys think?

With Mobil One in your crankcase, you have little to worry about. If you are operating in severe conditions, hot, cold, dusty, high altitude, short trips, or heavy loads you might need to change more often than the factory service schedule.

If in doubt I suggest an oil test. I use these guys for off-road equipment.

The results are objective and independent, which might be useful if a problem were found during the warranty period.

on the new cars, you only change oil once a year. i changed oil once a year for my '99 bmw 328i and it ran fine until 75k miles when I traded it in for the c320.

Its 2 late unles you take it to the dealer for 2 quarts of 2 stroke oil before 2pm.., and then post here two more times to get two more two sided opinions. To be or not 2 B. Too confused? Too bad.

K Car
With a synthetic oil like Mobile One, you will be fine with 10,000 miles. 3,000 mile changes are a myth put out by the oil companies and oil change places. Even with regular oil and regular driving, you should get 4-5k between changes.
