How much is your insurance premium for your new C-class?

I just ordered my C300 Sport 4matic last week and got insurance quote today. Mine is $823/6mo. with 50/100k liability and 500 deductible. It's kinda high. I'm paying about same money for $60k M3 convertible!

I have not yet received detailed pricing from my insurance agent. He simply added it to my existing policy. However he said it should be around $800/6mos

falvor88 09-20-2007 05:24 PM

I am paying $375 (for just me) per 6 months with $100/$300 liability, $100/$300 uninsured, $10K medical, $25 rental and $500 deductable. It actually went up with the C350 by $25 from an X5.

My record has been pretty clean for quite some time though. At one time I was paying almost 1000 per 6 months on an M3 (5 yrs ago).

err 09-20-2007 06:47 PM

I will be paying $450/6 mos for full coverage. I believe with $500 deductible as well.

I think posting your ages would help. This could help us to understand why some prices are higher than others.

I'm 36 with 2 kids and 3 year clean records. I don't understand why they are so high.

Peyton 09-20-2007 10:22 PM

They want $600 a month for premo insurance for me. I'm 21. Thats just nuts.

I'll probably go with the middle of the road insurance $1200+ for 6 months. Thats more do-able.

Wow, my insurance (not W204) is only like $1400 a year. I am also 21 with a clean record.

I have had many tickets :( That would explain it. DON'T SPEED!

bjafari84 09-21-2007 09:46 AM

I'm paying $420 every 6 months and I'm 23. Funny thing is I have had 3 speeding tickets in the past 3 years. I'm confused on why my rate is low compared to others. I have full coverage, $500 deductible.

IwantA124 09-21-2007 01:00 PM

location has a lot to do with it also.

SilverMPower 09-21-2007 06:25 PM

I'm 32, married, clean record. 2 cars on the policy. Our C300 is about $530/6 months. 250K/500K/500/500.

Man, I pay almost that much for my S class w/ AMG (mine is $900), 100/300, with $200 deductible.

You sign autography to cop every :)month ?

Spend $400 for a V1 unit, that would same you some penny down the road

Dema 09-22-2007 01:12 AM

Reconsider your inssurance company. Mutual liberty gives me very good rates much better than Geico, or Progressive. Something like $400 for 6 months sounds reasonable.

I have Adirondack on my current C-class. Last major speeding ticket was about 3 1/2 years ago for 86 in a 55 which should no longer be chargeable. Paying $999 for a 12 month policy with 250/500 BI, 250/500 SUM, $10k Medical, $25k OBEL, $1500 max rental coverage with an added endorsement that I receive a comparable vehicle to what I drive, $500 comp and collision deductibles. Had a quote from Geico for $586 every six months but I hate Geico and had a friend and family member screwed over pretty badly by their ridiculous payouts. I'd check out Adirondack if they are available in your state. Great company, part of One Beacon. 29 years old.

853 for 6 months with gayco

is that high? I am 23 with no tickets ever...

body 100K/300K
property 50K
uninsured/underinsured 50K/100K
comprehensive $250 deductible
collision $500 deductible

how do you guys get it for $1000 a year???

kfm999 10-30-2007 12:50 AM

Guys, I am in insurance, there are too many factors affecting your premium, the most important factor is where you live.

In NYC and in LI it could be 50% difference everything being equal.

it only makes sense when your comparing within the same ZIP code.

If you move from NJ to Brooklyn, your premium would probably go up 2x.

In NJ, different towns vary HUGE.

thaihula 10-30-2007 01:39 AM

mine will be $660/6 months, $500 deductible

stephensong 10-30-2007 10:02 AM

I am also in insurance as in 30 years with several state insurance departments. You must also include your "insurance score" when you are talking insurance premiums. This score is based mostly on credit score but also includes factors which have nothing to do with anything, i.e., if you shopped for your car loan, how long have you been on your job? How long have you lived at the same address? Think, the last time you got a quote for insurance, one of the first questions they ask is "what is your SSN". So, while tickets and accidents and type of vehicle, etc. are used by insurers, they all take a backseat to your insurance score.

I have a perfect record, am in my 40s, and was shocked to find out that my C350 will carry a premium higher than the 2004 BMW Z4 3.0i it replaced. A convertible sports car that had a sticker price about $8K more than my C350 had a lower premium than a slower, 4-door sedan? I don't understand insurance.

oblu 10-30-2007 11:24 AM

Is there any way for a private individual to find out what their insurance score is?

geico didnt ask for my social when i signed up online.... I have never got a ticket and am 23 years old... should I be getting a better rate than 853 for 6 months??? I registered in the outskirts of LA county, a small city with very very little crime....

I tried 3 different online quotes from liberty mutual, geico and progressive and they were all within $100 of each other...

I know why... your z4 had less computers and expensive electronics to fix...

that is a big factor in your cars rating it receives

I didn't think about that. The Z4 is a fairly basic car by today's standards - one of the many appealing things about it.

Maybe the fact that it spent so much time in the shop and, therefore, never in on the road had something to do with it, too? Those insurance companies seem to know everything these days! :)

I am 55 and have a perfect record, my '03 3.0 Z4 has been cheaper to insure then my '03 Acura CLS, '05 C230 Sedan, and '08 C350.
