So how is the multimedia package and Logic system?

How does the system sound compared to previous Benz models?

MBTex 09-24-2007 10:19 AM

Well I can speak only from word of mouth and what I've seen on MB showroom floors, but it appears that this new MB MM is by far the best they've ever come up with. Supposedly my sales guy has "regular" customers that are waiting for next year's S Class because this new MM is not yet available in it and they insist on having it.

Other than that, I'll submit to the opinions of those that have owned previous MB's with similar systems in them.

Sound quality wise from listening/hands on... the MMI with HK Logic 7 beats my navigation/HK sound system in my '06 hands down... There is considerably more bass (something that all C-classes with nav/HK combo suffered from as compared to the non nav models)... and the sound is cleaner without anywhere near as much door vibration left over from Bose's design...

I give it two thumbs up and a "Doh" because I don't have it... ;-)

and just to expand this discussion further, how does the sound compare (bass especially) with the Logic 7 system in the 3 series, for those that have tried both?

Bimmer puts 2 subwoofers under the seats, while MB puts one in the rear deck. The Mercedes is, however, rated at higher wattage...

Any opinions? the sound system is the #1 decesion for me between the 2 cars, so it is kind of a big deal. And I am done with aftermarket modifications in lux cars... too complicated...

Under the seat theoritacally should have more impact, since the floor of the vehicle is very rigid, however putting sub on the deck will achieve more articulate bass albeit less loud since it is mounted free air. Upon short listening on the new logic system on the C, the soundstage is pretty good, right in front of you.

Personally I tried the G35, 3'er and C ... the C had the cleaness, best system of the 3.

The G35 had way too much vibration, even my Mom realised the doors were making noise. The BMW just did not have enough kick; it just took going to too high of levels to get the bass to pump ... not to mention I jus t did not like the general U/I of the system.

With the C, the sound was clear, crisp, and totally uniform all over the car ...the bass was awesome ... the true test was from outside the car, no rattles, no wonkiness.

You won't regret it ..I ordered it ... Not to mention Sirius with full text display ;)

If the bass isn't enough, you can always add aftermarket one, just use JL CleanSweep or Rockford 360 to integrate the Head Unit into the amp.

MBTex 09-25-2007 07:29 PM

How much bass do you need? It is an H/K system in a midsized car. Should be plenty for any use..unless your plan is to make your passengers ummm, vibrate.....

Did anyone get free 6 months of SIRIUS when they purchased their C-Class? My friend got this in the mail after he bought his CLK. Otherwise, it's like $145 a year, right?

You get a 6 month subscription to Sirius if you order a 350 or a 300 with P1.

MB I think you're a MBworld ADDICT! You know all about the car, the options, even the options you didn't get, and combinations of options and prices and the whole bit. I'd tell you to ease up if I weren't glued to this waiting for mine.

Cheers, its almost October!

Cool. Do you know how long it takes to get the free 6 months in the mail?

Peyton 09-25-2007 08:12 PM

I believe i comes working with it... don't quote me on that. Otherwise no more than a month on new cars.

No Way! Sweet! Anyone knows if this applies to Canada as well?
I'd like to know about that 6mths free!

dalazernet 09-25-2007 09:09 PM

Not sure about Canada -- but when you pickup the car here in the US, my salesman showed me all the features and activated my car's sirius satelite radio with the 6 free months from Mercedes as well as the additional 8 free months from my particular dealer (gotta love Globe in Fairfield, NJ)...

I drove outta there enjoying my sirius! :-)

:rolf: hahaha, you caught me :rolf:

I have a brand spanking new 19 y/o 5'10" russian girlfriend that loves to wear short skirts. What do you think I want bass for? sheesh... amateurs...:naughty:

I actually like a lot of progressive trance, and in my 45 minute commute to school I like it to thump to get my adrenaline up for the day. I think i will take W0n6_3d4n's advice (thank you very much by the way) and just link a RF 360 to an Infinity BassLink if i need a little more kick.

I heard the sound on C Drive and those are NOT paper cone speakers, that is for sure. I am impressed with the sound quality of the HK system. Best non-aftermarket system I have heard in my humble 22 years on this earth. And The MMI, I will say again, runs circles around I-Drive in terms of the user intuitively knowing how to control the car. A+ to Benz!

W0n6_3d4n 09-26-2007 03:49 AM

Progressive trance will have a lot of mid bass, i'm pretty sure this won't be lacking in 12 speakers setup!! Subwoofer add depth, the one that kick you in the gut is mid bass stuff. Let me know when you done with the RF360.

Peyton 09-26-2007 04:05 AM

Just remember, you only have 2 ears for as long as you live... so...maybe 45 minutes 1 way every day at 450 watts might be enough, that is, if you plan to have your ears til 25. :p: otherwise go all out :D

Well I'm one of those people that likes to do as much research as possible about a major purchase before jumping in. So I just started learning about the car when I heard about the W204 coming out.

Odd thing is that I probably learned more just by reading on this board then any mag articles, internet postings, or dealer sales guys could tell me. Now that I've ordered I try to help others out who are making decisions on their own. I really don't care if people like the MB or buy it, I just try to answer questions to the best of my knowledge (I'm not always right).

Anyway, when the car gets here I'll have something else to fill my MB time...but I'll probably just have more questions then.

I believe my dealer said that they could set everything up to go at the dealer when I took delivery.

I didn't specifically ask about the Sirius though as I plan fill the memory up with mp3's and go with that...

Good luck with that....in your case maybe the BMW is better since there are woofers under each front seat......

nah, i was just playing because your response before made me audibly laugh.

I went to my local Benz dealer today, and they are saying that the MM package and AMG wheels are hard to come by (yikes). Honestly, I am going to hear how the system sounds, and then base my decisions on whether it is enough for me.

Now I am concerned that you are recommending me a Bimmer on a Benz board:eek:

Are you that unbiased and are looking out for me (trajectory of bass in relation to skirt shaking, haha), or is my taste in music just not good enough for a Mercedes-Benz?:p:

I like the MERCEDES!
