noob question

so,i've never driven a mercedes benz before but i have driven a bmw and it does feel very different from the commercial brands(ford, chevrolet)and i was wondering how is the handling in a mercedes? does it feel any different from driving a ford, chevrolet, nissan?

In one word; yes. It's hard to explain it in words but yes there is a difference. I love my Mercedes and the way it handles. I loath going away and driving rental cars because I'm so used to my car. The best thing you can do is to stop by your local dealership and go for a test drive and see for yourself about the handling of the car.

Those 'commercial' brands are more concerned that the handling/steering is there, and it works. Mercedes and BMW etc are more concerned with how it 'feels' so yes, its different. And not to discount the other cars, its just a preference thing. Some people don't care how their car handles, they just want to sit on a pillow and have lots of gadgets. Eh, but those people buy Lexus...

ooo burn.

depends on what mode you are in....soft in cruise mode and heavy in sport mode (especially when you downshift)

Yes, MBTex is right, it feels much firmer in sport mode as to be more direct with acceleration. I can't say if its as stiff as the BMW but it is rewarding to drive!
