Sport coupe new generation

I don't know what you guys think about it but I still like it; however, it is lacking something... without the old headlight. lil odd and so blend it doesn't have as much character as the sport sedan.
the engine and suspension should be awsome though.

Actually, if I remember the article correctly, the new C-coupe is IDENTICAL to the existing W203 rear of the firewall, with the exception of some trim, lights, and bumpers.

If that is the case, the W204 4drs should give this thing a good pounding on the track. I do have to admit though, the new headlights don't look half-bad, at least it doesn't look like a hacked job *cough* 318ti *cough*

I had the same thoughts. The rear of the newer car appears to be much crisper than mine. It also looks longer.

Overall, I think the minor warm over on the existing car is a mistake. And really, how hard would it have been to graft a fast back coupe, er hatch onto the car, given the new CLK is 100%W204?

Oh well, at least it won't be an overweight pig like the new sedans are.

The three design flaws I notice on the coupe are the side view (looks like an old VW Scirrocco hatchback), the grill is too small -- MB grill emblem too small -- and on any but the black color the black glass roof is too much of a contrast.

They somehow fixed the grill problem, from what I can tell, by opening up the grill and shortening the hood? And made the emblem larger? That does wonders for the car right there.

Coupe was always a looker from the front and side. Can't believe MB would mess up the car's best parts. Its always been the rear end- the drooping rear bumper, the bulbous plate surround, and the strange set forward cut in the bottom rear wrap around window. In AMG trim, with the 05 tails, I find the coupe nearly a perfect design, looking fit and trim from most angles.

This new one doesn't do enough to look like something other than the old coupe with the new corporate nose. Yeck. I've seen some really nice photoshops of what the new car will look like- but none of those jive with the mules weve seen photographed. It looks like the only other changes than the nose are the creased rear bumper, the crease in the hood, and the chiseled plate surround, which now appears to sport some sort of tail light reflector or extension- and the little window in the rear has been deleted/filled in.

I hope I'm wrong.

It's too bad MBUSA is preventing this from gracing our shores. I'd buy one now, assuming they permitted it to arrive with a stick.

At this point I think my next ride will instead be the BMW 135, in the spring.

Yeah, I'm with yah on the stick. I love my coupe, but I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that my next car will not be a Mercedes. The 'attitude' problem of the importer, and its unwillingness to give us access to manual shift cars and certain options means I too will likely jump ship when the time comes. A friend sold his C55 a few months back, wanted to unload it before the C63 came along and depressed the price even further...and he said he won't even consider the C63 because after accepting the automatic just so he could have the AMG 'experience' and that big *** V8, he ended up regretting it. He's now waiting for the new M3 to hit the states, and driving an old 528i with a manual trans, in the meantime.

I like the 1 series in convertible form...the back of that nearly notchback roofline bugs me- looks like a sedan, or worse, a dodge Neon. If they introduced a true fastback design, I'd be all over it...in twin turbo trim!!!

I'm hoping for a coupe version of the Saturn SKY. The Solstice is getting one...although the rumor is the SKY won't...sounds stupid to have hardtop car called SKY
