7sp auto first shift clunks in the morning.

Unfortunately, I have to park outside right now so my car is cold in the morning. Shifting into drive is fine, but the first shift of gears while moving produces a monster clunk. Shifting at any other time is perfect.

It'll be going in for service to address some other minor 'new car' issues but was wondering if anybody else has noticed this?

I've never gotten a clunk so to speak, but sometimes when slowing to a stop sign or a traffic light and I'm almost stopped then the light changes. If I barely tap the accelerator it will give me a quick jerk as if the car is deciding between 1st gear or second. Sometimes my wife will be riding shotgun and look at me funny las if I am driving the car hard but it's the transmission not me. Also it's done something similar puling into my driveway, I pull up over the curb and will sit and wait for the garage door to fully open then give just enough throttle input to roll onto the driveway into the garage, the tranny will pulse or jerk the car for a second. Theres no clunk or sound when it does it, it's just annoying and something I think is unacceptable at this cars price point

The cold weather and sitting outside overnight is going to take some time for the transmission fluid to warm up to temp. When it is cold, its not going to shift as smoothly as it would when the fluid is up to temp. Does it go away after driving for a bit?

Of course. But this isn't just a hard shift from being cold. This is a loss of forward motion, clunk, and then a shift.

For perspective, my wife's Q7 that also has to sit outside right now (my garage is currently a paint booth) experiences a normal cold shift. Mine is a clunk.

I'll have the dealer check it, but fully expect the from them.

Ah, you didn't mention the loss of acceleration, clunk then catches =P

Well, hopefully the dealer will find something...just have them leave it outside overnight to reproduce the issue or you'll really get the

For you? I'm guessing 68F and overcast? If that even happens.
