road noise on 18" wheels and tires AMG c350

is the crappy increased road noise worth it? they look way better but i hear so many complaints about the road noise!!! do 3 series tires sound this bad???

what do u think!?!?

I don't have any experience with the MB 18" wheel / tire combination for the W204, but I do have experience with the 3-series tires. The tires BMW uses are horribly loud - mostly because they are run-flat tires. RFTs are noisier because of the harder sidewall compounds. Just based on my experience, if you do not like the noise on the C's 18" tires, you'd go crazy in a 3-series!

ultra performance summer tires are loud. Get over it. Or buy all season hwy tires.

i have a E46 330Ci coupe now and it has GoodYear F1 GSD3's in the same size as the C350 18 inch set up. Actually the tires are very quiet it just the ride over bumps and irregularities is a bit rough also u will get Tramlining with the Summer tires especially in a stagered set up.

There are many people who have switch to non-RFT tires on the current 3-series cars and have had nothing but good things to say with regards to noise, ride, tremlining, etc. Its probably just the tires.

I did. Night and day. Put the RFT's back on when I traded the car in and had to drive around like that for a week. Made me glad to trade it in.

so do you think it it a good idea to switch out the tires on the benz to non lo-pro tires that are not loud??

what other tires work with the 18" amg's??

i hate the way the 17" look and have to have the 18"s

oblu 10-17-2007 11:10 PM

Tires aren't that loud to me. But after having PS2s I'll probably splurge when the oem tires where out ... oh wait, no it's a lease; forgot. I'll just live with it.

just do some research and find some tires that are the same dimensions as your current ones but are well rated for Noise/comfort. www.tirerack.com would probably be a good place to start.
