What kind of gas do you use?

Obviously I know it's unleaded but do you use supreme (the highest one). Or do you use the middle one.... Or just regular?

These cars require premium, so that is what I use.

I've got a few E85 stations popping up so I'll probably go with that for a while to see how the mileage goes. supposed to be over 100 octane...anything over 90 should probably be sufficient.

91 is considered premium, that is what the manual requires. Some areas have 93 as premium.

I hope you aren't going to put E85 in your C350

I use premium - Oct 91.

Note that ethanol has only abot 80% of the energy as gas, and therefore milage will be substantially less with ethanol. In addition, ethanol is very corrosive. I would not recommend it.

Some areas you can't help it though...in the Northeast, all gas stations have up to 10% ethanol added to gasoline. It use to be MBTE I believe but now ethanol. But at least we get 93 up here

yeah, althought they are both M272 engines, the 3.0L C300 is a flex fuel E85 compabile engine but the 3.5L C350 is not. So I hope MBTex isn't filling up with the stuff as I type.

Well it says he has a C350 on order, so hopefully he hasnt put anything in iy yet.

There are some other stipulations on flex fuel. I think it is only RWD C300s with auto trans.

No worries....gotto have the car before I can put the wrong fuel in it!!!

First I've heard of the no ethanol in the 350....I'll definately be double checking that one before trying it out.

Premium unleaded here I come..

Just looked it up and you are correct. Only RWD 300's with auto tranny's are flex fuel.

That would've been interesting.

I find it funny, and I'm not saying anybody here is it's just that I've had this conversation with family lately, that people still worry about putting regular unleaded in vs premium. I could see the argument back when regular was $1.80 and premium was $2.10 a gallon. That's a significant percentage more.

But when regular is $3.15 and premium is $3.25, at that point, who cares? Over the course of a 17 gallon fill up, that's $1.70. That's such a small percentage over regular why bother?

I agree completely. My father used to drive 5 miles out of his way to save 2 cents per gallon on gas when I was young.

When I got old enough to actually add up how much he was saving it just didn't make sense to me. I will gladly pay for the premium gas to keep the performance of the car up.

It is simple why bother. I fill a tank 3-4 times in a month, it means my month saving can be $1.70*4=$6.40. Actually price difference in my area at least $0.20, so monthly saving will be $10 or more. So finally annual saving can be $120 and more. I can do tons things for these money, I can buy a nice Christmas gift as Zune 30, or sit in a good restaurant, I can buy gold earrings for my wife, or nice fishing rod. So each time when I select premium I thing how many things I lost in my life for that.

I'm guessing you're not a big latte fan then.

If I worried about $120 over the course of the year, I'd probably be driving something much cheaper. I definitely wouldn't ever eat meals out. Or buy clothes. Or have a cell phone. Or Tivo. Or cable TV. Or ...

Anyone hsa any thoughts about E10(10% or gasohol) for the C350? Here in Hawaii, every gas station switched to it.
