Play DVD's While Driving the w204 with MM
How do you unlock the DVD player to play dvd's while driving???
If not available yet or nobody has cracked it, how loing do all you c class vets think it will take for someone to crack the software and allow them to play dvd's while driving??? i think it is ridiculous that they block the dvd's in motion... i know it is law in most states.. but still, we should just take the risk of getting pulled over with it on rather then for MB to disable it.... like what is the point, like people are going to sit in a stationary car and watch DVD's??? anybody that drives a benz probably has a nice HD LCD to go at home to watch so what the hell is the point of a DVD player in a car that only plays when parked??? |
Maybe if you are stuck in a major traffic jam that isn't movie, then you can park and watch your DVD. Or if you are waiting for a plane to arrive and it is delayed a couple of hours.. you can watch DVDs. Or you drive somewhere and get a flat and you have to wait 2 hours for the guy to come put the spare on.. you can watch dvds. Or you get stuck in the snow and you are waiting for a tow truck, you can watch DVDs.
The possiblities are endless. I think it's dangerous to watch them while driving. Why put yourself and other drivers at risk? |
i like playing music video dvds I make rather than audio cd's in my current car...
also, what about guests and big road trips where you are mostly listening but may glance every once in a while?? |
Guests should have personal screens. Playing video is really distracting, I almost crashed car, because video. So be careful when unlocking the feature.
|
Truthfully, 'unlocking' that feature is one of the first things I plan on looking into when I pick up the car.

No, only when you are in park.

Merged for same topic. Next time STFF please. |
Here is a video on youtube that shows that it can be done. In the beginning the driver presses the + & - buttons on the steering wheel at the same time for about a second. My car has not come in yet so I can't confirm that it works. Good Luck!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHbLOIwjR0s It's not that simple. That video is from a guy that has developed a way to do it, but you'll have to buy the module. Personally, watching video in my car is the LAST thing I want to do. |
DVD while in motion
I asked the same question While at an MB dealer in Munich and he said that Euro spec cars will play DVD's all day long while driving, however, US cars will not. All you need to do is sell your current COMMAND and buy a Euro model. Easy swap.
|
so... anyone ever find out how/where u can get the module? its kinda driving me nuts. i love driving around with my fathers car and his SL is unlocked. its all the driver really. if u can understand not to look you will be ok. if you have A.D.D. or something then i dont think you should get it unlocked lol. and in some states it is illegal to have the front dash playing video in motion... like in FL. where my family lives. that why i think it is locked for US models. im just waiting till i find the module... if anyone finds out tell us plz? thanks.

not sure on how the back of the c350 audio/video system looks... yet. but on my is350... all we had to do was pull out the dvd/screen unit.. cut 2 wires. ground 1 and connect the other 2 cut wires... basically it tricks the dvd safety feature to think the car is at 0 mph.

the module on mbdoctors site.. basically looks like a wire harness that performs what i said above... but instead of cutting the wires yourself.. its plug and play and it comes with a switch.
