Do wheels from other models fit?

I am new to MB, and am looking for wheel compatibility info (need an extra set for winter tires for an '08 C300). Do wheels from other/older Mercedes model fit on the new C-class? I was surprised to find out that steel wheels were not available in the US -- are they available in Canada or Europe?

TIA,
Alex

Wheel swaps

[<< am new to MB, and am looking for wheel compatibility info (need an extra set for winter tires for an '08 C300). Do wheels from other/older Mercedes model fit on the new C-class?>>

They do not because of a big change in offsets. The "ET" number on the backside of the wheel.

I changed the OE wheels on my C300 to the 18" AMGs so will be using the originals for winter tires soon. Whether I will buy another set of tire pressure sensors is undecided, at this point.

it depends on which model they came off of. if you have a sport model, you'll need a set that will clear the brakes.

If you dont mine to spend $300 for another set of sensors, then buy them, otherwise like me driving with the warning light on.
I totally forget about the sensors after I mount the winter tires on the 17'' wheels.

Thanks to all that responded. I've done some more research:

Steel wheels are available in Europe and Canada (they get essentially EU-configured cars with many individually available options, not bloated behemoths with 3 "convenient" packages for the US). The p/n for the 16" wheel is 2044000102, cost $137.30 (Canadian). 16" wheels only fit cars without the Sport Package, otherwise 17" wheels are required (steel not available).

BTW, Canadian (and EU) cars can be ordered without the tire pressure monitoring system -- not an option in the US.

TP sensors

$300 my ***. I just called Caliber Motors for a quote on TP sensors. They say $252 EACH!!! I told them, for that price I expect them to be shipped in a Gulfstream V and then a limo to my home.

I'm still feeling faint.

TP sensor price

<<$252 each? dont really make sense cuz the option doesnt even cost that much>>

I gather you are located where TP sensors are an option, then? What is the cost?

As far as comparing factory installed vs over the counter, forget that. As one glowing example, the 18" AMG wheel option is a comparatively paltry $1000US vs the MB dealer's price in his parts department of $3290.

Bit of mark-up there.

WOW $252 each is kinda crazy, I brought a brand new set (well almost brand new, I'll say 95% new) of Michelin tires and rims off a 2008 C300 Sport Mercedes Benz for only $700. Well without the sensors tho. $252 each is more expensive than my rims.

You can order a set of 4 TP sensors and valve sleeves for $298 + taxes & shipping from TireRack. Not sure what more you will get from the $1008 set?

Cheaper sensors

Perhaps something compatible with the car's receiver in the trunk? Knowing the Germans and MB, they will specify something that can only work with their OE equipment.

A call to Tire Rack is in order, I think.

aha...!
I think i got it.. the c300 must be only something for the american market.

if you look at the australian site: http://www2.mercedes-benz.com.au/con...ines.0001.html

it makes no mention of a c300...

C300 by any other name....

<<aha...! I think i got it.. the c300 must be only something for the american market. If you look at theaustraliansite:it makes no mention of a c300...>>

In other markets it's badged C280 even though the same 3.0 engine is used. The W203 C280 sold in the US and elsewhere also used the same 3.0. Less confusion when the badging matches the displacement.

It's because the North Americans can't deal with designations that don't match displacement figures. The C300 is the same as the C280 in the ROW.

Imagine their surprise when they find out that the BMW 335i actually comes with a turbo-charged 3.0L inline-6 engine!
