How many clicks down will your parking break go on your new w204?

Mine goes about 4-5, but i noticed on my w203 rental that it is much smoother when i push it down and it goes about 8-10 clicks and feels much more natural and not so stiff like the w204...

just wantedd to see what other w204 drivers were experiencing with their parking break...

how many clicks do you normally push down before you stop? and i am not counting if I really push hard to get that exxtra click or 2, i am talking just a firm push down until the resistance increases to a normal level to where u would think it would be enough to hold the car

and also, do after you take your foot off the regular break after the parking break is down... does your car still move just a little bit if you are on an incline? mine still does after both breaks are on, but definitely much less than if just the regular break was on from the transmission...

Funny thing. I dropped my car off at the dealer to get it washed this weekend and he threatened to take it back from me since I parked it without using the parking brake....I was scolded and told to always use the parking brake because it protects the transmission, even on the slightest of hills.

Not a problem for me since I've owned a few sticks and am used to it, but I've never used it regularly on an automatic before except on steeper hills, which there are quite a few of around here. I use it all of the time now.

If I keep my car parked in a flat garage do I still need to use the parking brake? Why?

There is no specific reason for it. Some say its good for the transmision and some say its only useful if you park on an incline. Its better to use the parking break as changing the transmission is expensive than changing the wire for the parking break.

clicks?

my footpedal brake doesn't click. Or maybe I'm deaf? It depresses well enough with a stomp of the foot, but no clicks I can recall.

good to use so car doesnt move that extra inch or two after being put in park and rely on the transmission to catch it... with p brake on it hold solid = better for transmission...

yes i am not on a hill, even the slightest incline causes this

dude, u are retarded... have you ever heard of a sloped driveway, i.e. a great time to use parking break??? florida is not 100% flat i.e. 0% incline/grade everywhere... even slight 2-5% inclines would warrant using the parking break to be better off on your cars tranny than to not

4 clicks or 5

Okay, I turned down the tunes and yes, there is a clicking there.

So, I measured how much i use. Turns out 4 is good, 5 is actually a bit much but I did it 2 out 3 tries since its only just a tad past 4 and don't catcth yourself in time. I can do 6 and 7, but seems way too tight for that.
