CONGRATS!:y But I don't understand why did you had to wait that long, same as a lot of people,:confused: when I decided whitch car I wanted. I just went to pick it up:zoom:
1) The USA is a big market and the W204 is being supplied to it with a limited number of options. Combine these two facts and it becomes viable for dealers to order most possible variants knowing that they'll sell them. Most US-market cars are therefore either in the supply pipe somewhere or actually on a dealer's floor when the end customer goes and places his order. For the rest of the world, we get lots of options but that means that dealers would have to take an unacceptable level of risk if they pre-ordered every possible combination. Our cars therefore tend to be built to order; 2) There have been big shortages of the AMG body components at the factory so it was impossible to get a factory order accepted for a Sport model for October or November build (over and above a portion of the allocation that had been made approx 3 months previously). FWIW, the USA seems to have been getting a large proportion of the AMG body components throughout this period, probably as a result of the early punt that US dealers took on ordering the cars |

Most of us had to either take a car they had on the lot (usually a C300 Sport with P1 only), or wait 3 months to get a C350, P2, MM or 18 in rims. Had they had the SFA on the lot when I placed my order I would have considered it. |
Also, if I'm not mistaken, the C200K was just released overseas as the Kompressor engine wasn't available in the W204 until this year (next year in the US, maybe), so that probably contributed to their long wait time.

Thats not true for 200k but for 180k it is. Release date was september 2007 for 180k only here in amsterdam. 200k was released here in june july.
Sounds true to me... :y |
That is a crazy amount of time to wait for a car. I ordered mine at the begining of November, it was built two weeks later. Picked it up first week of December, took the extra time getting shipped by boat. So if your already in the region its built, not sure why it didn't just take you two to three weeks to get it. (Must admit that my salesman is above and beyond the best salesman I've ever met, and got me a build spot fast)
|
He probably either got you a car already in production or the dealership had an open allotment for that build date.
Wish that had happened to me...my problem was all of the 350's with P2 and MM that were in production when I ordered were spoken for. |

By "just released" I meant recently (as in within the past several months)....not yesterday. That's why I said "this year".
Sounds true to me... :y Only 180 was released late. so hes waiting for 200K for 6 months is not justfied , Maybe his dealer messed him up. I waited for mine as 180K never was released till November which I ordered in March. :) |
he's in egypt, they assemble them locally, i'm guessing demand is much stronger than supply, hence the wait...
|
are you sure they assemble them locally. As i m pretty sure they follow erurope builds.
anyway hes not complaining as hes getting it this week. So yah!!! :slap: |
first country to assemble the S class too, i believe, though only for the local market...
edit: here's an article http://www.dailystaregypt.com/printe...?ArticleID=926 not an expert on the region though, so i could be wrong about his C being assembled there, but that's just my thought as to why... |
Correct in Egypt they assemble the C,E,and S classes. and just an FYI
I GOT MY CAR YESTERDAY!!!! WHOOOHOOOO! I took it out for a spin yesterday and it was sweeet. I had a w203 for quite a while now and I must say. I am impressed, even more so than my dad's w211. I'll do a quick write up of w204 vs w203 soon with pics. :) Excuse me while i go study the manual. |
They also assemble C, E and S in indonesia.
Enjoy the car!! I know i do :) |

Yes affordable is the key word there, although you are limited in the option department. Reliability shouldn't be a problem, my parents bought an indonesian assembled W202 and it is very reliable, considering the multiple pothole and few hours of crawling pace each day it has to endure.
|
Congrats DJ Kyro +1 for the pic's.
I know all about the waiting game I had to wait 5 months for my wife's new C200K got it late Oct and love it except for the brake dust. Here in Oz the W204 currently come from Germany, but the W203 came from South Africa. |
