Hit 1000 miles and still running smooth

Thus far, I haven't had any problems with the car. I have to say I've never been more satisfied. The car runs really smooth and New York's winter hasn't given me any problems yet. The car practically glides over the snow and feels really smooth even when I'm spinning through puddles of water along the freeway. I feel a sense of security being in it and I've no complaints. I just wish I could hand wash the poor thing as I refuse to bring it to a car wash. God knows what dirt or residue from other cars get in there. I would never risk my car. I instead, torture myself in the cold with a pail bucket and gloves. It's the way to go!

1000 miles..is it safe to say your in the clear yet? Whats that old saying about if something is going to fail it will fail when you first get it, after that its good? They told me when I picked mine up that the break in period was 1800 miles, so you have 800 more to go.

Lol I'm teasing, nothings perfect but I'm sure you will have great luck, if you don't MB stands behind their product and will work with you till its fixed to your liking.

By the way, don't get too carried away washing the car if the temperature is around 32 degrees. You can make the seals in the doors, trunk, ect. freeze and then tear when you attempt to open them.

Aren't cars supposed to last 1000 miles anyways?

Unless you've had really horrible experiences of cars breaking down before they hit 1000 miles, it's not that impressive, IMO.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean it'll happen to every car.

Even Toyota/Honda has defects sometimes. I think it's reliability issue only if the same problem happens too frequently within the same type vehicles.

Thank you for the advice. Gosh, it's going to be real tough allowing dirt to accumulate on my car but I'll take your word for it. I'm just going to have to refrain myself for the time being.

No, my previous cars have been reliable as a matter of fact. I state this because there's been plenty of complaints but few praises. That's all

Not impressive?

<<Aren't cars supposed to last 1000 miles anyways? Unless you've had really horrible experiences of cars breaking down before they hit 1000 miles, it's not that impressive, IMO.>>

It's obvious this is your first new Mercedes. Or perhaps any Mercedes. My C300 is far from my first new MB and every single one of them developed problems or failures very soon after delivery. No real breakdowns occurred except for "little" things like the power steering pump turning into a Texas gusher when I fired it up to go to work one morning. I cut the drive belt with my pocket knife and dropped it off at the dealer who installed a new pump (and belt) under the warranty. I could go on......

So when I say that at 1500 miles I am overjoyed that NOT ONE defect has surfaced so far, I see this as almost a miracle. If this keeps up, the dealer will be laying off a few technicians who are now doing warranty repairs. That's already happened at a big California dealer who closed down the night shift since the new S-Class is so reliable, they have a lot less shop work.

it's a new car. it's supposed to be smooth and I can't believe someone made a thread about this but you're happy and that's all that matters. Now enjoy your new ride
