sucks that they already had a problem with it, but I think these people somewhat abuse these cars.

ya, i do think they abuse the car a bit. Check out their blogs for 2007 G35s, sunroof parts also felt off at 11k miles. must be really sunny out there.....

After reading all of it, I get the distinct impression that the car is guilty until proven innocent.

Which is fine; MB has put itself in that situation with it's marketing campaign.

And I agree with them on the old school swing arm trunk that pops up. Doesn't get out of the way enough like a hinged hydraulic piston trunk lid does. I've hit my noggin a couple of times and my wife's so used to hinged trunks that she's had to step out of the way of the swinging lid.

But to make a big fuss about a sunroof button? Come on. Whoopie.

Oh and Merc salespeople are snobby? Oh wow. Now there's a revelation for the centuries.

PS. We've got that exactly Q7, down to the color, except with 20" wheels. And I've pretty much agreed with everything they've said on that car. We haven't had the exact MMI problem they did, but we've got our own weird gremlins.

Coming from driving a VW (Jetta) I am actually excited about the popping trunk. Of course I would be losing the workout I get while trying to open the trunk on the vee-dub.

If this is such a problem, why not open it manually with the release above the license plate. If you haven't found it.

This editor really runs down the Benz, for something that sounds more like human error. You break a switch? How hard are you pushing the wrong way for the thing to break off? At what point in your pushing the button the wrong way did you realize it wasn't working, but continued pushing till it fell off in your hands? Lol, reminds me of watching an episode of Autoweek. Anyone here seen that show? Host John Davis has been on that show for years, still runs on PBS here on Saturdays. Anyway, they always have video of some guy beating the tar out of the interior of a car. Pushing buttons, twisting things, shoving suitcases in the back, pushing on seats, everything short of putting a grizzly bear in there and locking the doors.
