Anyone bent one of the 18" Amg wheels yet.. ?
:confused:I hit a pot hole yesterday but never thought it would affect the wheel but sure enough there is a vibration at high speed, just bad luck or are the wheels soft... im going to pull the fronts and check and balance on wednesday

Yeah, but to be fair you're in NY. The potholes there can tear a suspension out from under a car.
They're cheap heavy OE cast wheels. Hit them hard enough and they're going to bend. Sucks to hear it happened to you though. MB will bend you over for a new one. |

Funny, I just read a review of C63 and it said no 19" AMG Wheels available in the US due to the number of potholes and the soft makeup of the wheel.

Wheels Protection Plan??? Where did you get this plan and what did it cost? Does the plan pay for complete replacement of the wheel or repair only?

I paid about $1000 for 5 years that cover my 18'' AMG wheels and tires with no deductible.

Bent wheel
IF the wheel is bent but not cracked, it can be easily repaired. I hit one of our Seattle chuckholes (10' deep) earlier this year and bent the inner rim on one of my C36 AMG 17" wheels (on the C320) enough to deflate the tire. It was repaired for $140.

What exactly does it cover and which dealer if you don't mind me askin. Im in NY too and know exactly how it feels to go through those potholes.
My E500 (used with 32K) comes with the 18" AMG staggered rims and MB replaced both front ones under warranty. I always thought AMG rims are all forged, but after going to the tirerack.com, I learned my particular model (W211) is not. They go for about $600 each. (MB had mine costing $800 each). The package may be worth it - I opted not for it bec. aftermarket rims are usually stronger/more attractive. Good luck! |
Hmmm... If my dealer offered that I wish they would of mentioned it to me when I ordered the car. I had initially ordered my C350 with the 18" rims, but then opted for the stock 17" rims. Our potholes are pretty brutal here in MN too. Saw a family of four stuck in one last week, true story. ;) I told them when I nixed the 18's that was the reason and they probably could of sold me on that policy...
